When Rachel and Alberti are on food shows together, it truly is like watching a childrens playground for 3 hours.  Now that they cannot eat the food, the fondling and exaggerative presentations, especially Alberti's drama expressions, is too much to watch...tuned in the other day not knowing they were on air and several minutes before turning off was more than enough.  Unfortunately QVC is relying on a limited number of hosts during this "non-vendor" and "limited staff" time.  I am no fan of either of these hosts and do not watch any show they host!

I have a friend who uses the word quite often, I always laugh about it!

He seems to be very polarizing. Many like him, others find his giggling and over exuberance fake and annoying.  Much prefer a lower key sales pitch.  Mary Beth, Dan Hughes etc.  Low key and humble midwestern values over the ones trying to be hip.

I hardly think that a show host is polarizing. I have no idea what these midwestern values are that you always mention.  Are values exclusive to that demographic? The two hosts that you mentioned are more hard sell than some of the others.

Originally, I think it was shorthand for needing a fix, which is probably why some folks question its 'appropriateness'... Then it just came to be a generalized term about wanting something badly... To me, it seems pretty dated...

There is a humbling nature to people who hail from the Midwest in my honest opinion.  They arent extravagant or boastful.  Mary Beth is from Minnesota and Dan from Indiana.  Sometimes people from cosmopolitan regions think too highly of themselves so I enjoy the down to earth nature of some of the older lower key hosts.   I dont care for flash from a host.

There are people who think too highly of themselves everywhere, even in the Midwest.

And there are people who are down-to-earth and humble, with good morals, kindness in their hearts, and spirits of generosity with no ego involved everywhere too.

Amen to that!  I've lived in the midwest my whole life (Kansas) and believe me, we aren't all the friendly, folksy people the stereotype implies. Plenty of rude arrogant people here.

What I found interesting is a friend of ours--a local farmer---took his family to NYC recently for a nice adventure. Now mind you, we here in the Midwest constantly hear stories & stereotypes of how rude and unfriendly New Yorkers are, how they'd rather run you over on the street than look at you! Anyhow, he came home and said NY-ers were the nicest people he'd met and all  the people he encountered were so friendly and helpful. He enjoyed the trip.
