I am not familiar with finance or business at all. DH and I never worked in those fields. So many posters here are, so I have some questions.
Do you think it would have been better had QVC not merged with HSN and bought the other companies?
Why is QVC largely dismissing the customer base who supported them all along, mostly baby boomers?
Would things be better if QVC sold some of their newer companies? Could they actually do this?
TIA for answering my questions! ![]()

QVC made a gigantic mistake for one thing in outsourcing the IT and customer help. When all of that went downhill their inventory, shipping and customer service was shot to heck.
Their merchandising was stale and didn't keep up with trends and needs or a society vastly changed in the last 6 years.
The quality of merchandising, warehousing and inventory, on air presentations, and apparently leadership fell off the charts, and I doubt they can recover from it. And they started trying to pawn off lesser quality goods for higher quality prices. Which hurt them a LOT.

are expected to ship "free" (which only means you don't SHOW shipping cost because there is no FREE shipping--it's ALL COST, you pay what you pay no matter what). Etc. etc.
I have gotten totally free shipping MANY, MANY times here.
If the price of the item in my WL did NOT go up....and I order on free shipping day...I GOT free shipping.
I just ordered a set of Orgreenic pans on free shipping day.
Even with $10+ shipping, QVC was the exact same price as AMZ & Wally.
The price did NOT go up, free shipping day...I saved $10! Yay Me!!
I agree though, that the food 'free shipping' is already built into the price. No way the vendor or QVC are eating the cost of those styro containers, dry ice and UPS 2nd day Air!!!
@RespectLife But you paid what you paid--no matter free or $20 shipping. It's what came out of your pocket whether they have a sale, a percent off, a coupon, or whatever--it's what comes out of your pocket that matters not how it gets to that price.
If you had gotten a $20 off coupon, you'd have been better off than "free" shipping. But you didn't. That's the point.

@beach-mom IMO This is all from bad management. Look at what they did at Christmas giving free shipping to NEW people only? They did Nothing for long term people. Then all they sold was pajamas. They put the Hosts in PJ's give them wine and it turns into a circus. It is a great place to shop if you need Pj's or anything Sherpa.
The CEO is killing this company. IMO The longer he is in chatge the quicker the ship is going down.
Getting rid of two long term dedicated employee's was a really bad move. I am seeing hundreds of people saying they will never shop here again. That is not just from here. All over the internet.
They won't listen to any suggestions. I see a pattern in who is getting hhired and who is getting fired. I can't say it or it will poof. Just look, it is nothard to see what is going on.

I think the pandemic also attributed to their customer loss. In fact I know personally of several cases where it did.

UNLESS THE UPS, USPS AND FEX EX DON'T CHARGE, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE SHIPPING. IT'S ALL WHAT YOU PAY FOR THE ITEM. DO YOU REALLY THINK THEY DON'T CONSIDER SHIPPING AS A COST?
All I know @Sooner is that when I buy the same item for the same price or less and get 'free' shipping elsewhere, while I'm expected to pay, for example, upwards of twelve bucks for QVC to ship me a handbag, then it becomes very clear to me which deal I'm going to take...

@THEY CallMe Mr Wilkes @I missed this. Pretty sure that QVC's reduced presence on TV played at least some part in this. They have a new head of streaming and they are hiring in this area. I also think the pandemic affected customers' buying habits. I appreciate the insight you provide. Thank you.
I'm not seeing anything about this data being based on some sort of TV viewership numbers. It's a customer count, which I would think is based on who's actually ordering.
