Gosh, I guess I'm having an off day. Thank you, I am older and the nerve injury I have in my face will always flair up. I do enjoy reading and writing here and it does take my mind off the pain.
Trying to understand how Mod's work. Thanks to everyone who has patience with an old timer.
Cathy
I've read a lot of threads about moderation and I still don't understand how it works but even tho moderation seems uneven to me sometimes.........the final answer is always it's their site, their job and their decision.
Not really a big deal in the scheme of things imho.
Yep, your right, QVC's Forum --- abide by the rules or dont participate. And yep some of the moderation is inconsistent but they've said their decision is final.

Anyhoo, why don't we let QVC and their mods decide just what to remove and who to ban and not worry about any of this?
The vast majority of posters come here for fun and relaxation, not for being scolded or told what to do by others who themselves are less than perfect.
In other words, lighten up, for goodness' sake.
Ah, @suzyQ3, the voice of reason finally enters. I, too, suspect something unusual going on in this post.
ITA, let the mods do their job. We don't need posters patrolling the boards policing fellow members. The mods do their job.
I agree, this topic has been hashed and re-hashed we took the surveys and decisions were made--it's QVC's Forum, let the Mods do their job, we don'tneed mini-mods. If they just want nothing but positive posts then they can create a QVC Host Fan Club Facebook Page or Blog that they can control!
This is an Opinion forum. And you're so right, @Spurt. Were it all positive opinions, it would be a Fan club. And as much as one woman loves something, there's the next woman who detests it. That's what makes a forum interesting: differing opinions. There's nothing wrong at all, @Spurt my friend, with you loving something and me disliking the same thing. And both opinions will be strongly felt and written so.

I re-read the "rules" but nothing is really mentioned about "unkind."
Maybe this will be looked at and answered soon.
Happy Sunday!

It specifically is mentioned:
QVC Community Standards for Participation
"• Be respectful and courteous to others, even if you disagree with them.Do not use language or post content that is unkind or in poor taste or engage in personal attacks."
http://www.qvc.com/QVCCommunity.content.html
Community Guidelines
"• Personal attacks are not allowed -
Don't attack or insult another Community member.
It's not helpful and it doesn't make for a friendly place.
This includes calling other members names.
Disagreement is no excuse for poor manners and we will not allow frustration to turn into a personal attack."

Sorry, more specific information from the Social Team was included in this Community Update from the social team (which was in a different post)-
Keeping the forums awesome
The QVC forums have been in existence for a decade, and keeping the experience awesome is going to require every member do their part. You don’t all have to be friends, but you do have to be respectful towards each other if you wish to participate in the discussions here. We are using three methods to keep the forums awesome: removing nasty posts, closing commenting to cool off a potentially nasty discussion, and when all else fails permanently banning members who are not able to be respectful.
The negative posts we are most concerned with are the posts that are nasty (i.e. personal attacks). Community members are welcome to share a negative review about a product or brand, unhappiness with programming, and even share displeasure with a host. But nasty comments will be removed and may result in the author being permanently banned. Those who took the survey share our interest in removing the nasty comments directed towards fellow Community members and hosts,

The "Keeping the forums awesome" link is interesting but with all due respect isn't an update.
It's 3 years old from July 2014 results and response to a user survey.
They updated standards and guidelines in summer 2015 when the new forums started up.
Very interesting to read what they were thinking about back then though.
👍
There were numerous threads, surveys sent out back in 2014, and when QVC made modifications to the website back in 2014, they also included an update on Forum Guidelines/Standards that were made TO THE EXISITNG AND ORIGINAL COMMUNITY STANDARD/GUIDELINES that were develped when the Forums were originally implemented. The update from 2014 is the last one initiated and REMAINS CURRENTLY IN EFFECT TODAY 2017!---
My point is that you posted a 2014 blog post and called it an update to the Standards & Guidelines @beautiful_dreamer quoted from as if you were contradicting the current policies.
The Mods always direct us to the Standards & Guidelines which occasionally have been updated since the new boards started in 2015.
It's just a blog, not the official Terms of Use.
No big deal, just my observation and I didn't understand the distinction.
Peace.

This isn't a board restricted to "only praise and glowing reviews are welcome". That would be silly and boring lol.

Concur with what you said my friend, although I hope that opinion differences are discussed in an intelligent manner---- respecting each other to have their own view point. Too many times those that dont want to see a discouraging word about QVC/hosts/vendors write some of the meanest, nastiest things back to someone who has written an opinion about a host, and it's sometimes far nastier and meaner than what was even said about the host/vendor/QVC--- If I say I dont like a host because ......................., why can't they just say, I like this host because and leave it at that or ignore the thread altogether....

Agreed.
Honestly? I see posts day after day, week after week from posters writing to state that if QVC would only do what they want, then they would be happy with QVC - the forums, the shipping, the mdse, the hosts, whatever. Just give them what they want as individuals, tailored to their likes and dislikes, and all will be well.
So much 'I don't get why QVC doesn't see things my way. I don't get why QVC doesn't do what I'm telling them - it's rude. They need to listen to me!'
The entitlement boggles.
Skip the threads, people and topics that disturb (the general) you; that's what most people do. Report posts (the general) you find particularly egregious, and move on.
The forums weren't created to please literally everyone. There should be compromises, give and take and adult ability to pass on by, or deal - rather than it needs to suit me to a T.

Yes, it surely would be "silly and boring." You might tell that to the OP who has said that it would be more fun if it were positives. Not everybody is as wise as you.

Absolutely,@ @Spurt. You don't have to get in a member's face about a disagreement of opinion, and you have the freedom of your own opinion expressed.
Control is the issue here, when one poster wants you not to express your opinion. And is determined to stop it.

T-rollers & survays??? I have no idea what you all are talking about. I still don't know who even posts nasty reviews because the names are removed.
Thanks for the answers but some are just over my head.
I am baffeled by the poster that knew how many days/weeks she would be kicked off. How on earth do you know this unless it happened to you?
None of this is in "get started."
My initial question was sincere and curtious.

To Moon,
Your remark about posters wanting what" they" want day after day and week after week
Those are called suggestions. Those are reporting real problems that we would like to be rectified for all of us who "are" shopping here.
It has been pointed out that many only come here only to write. I come here to write and shop! QVC is a good company but there is room for improvement, hence the boards.
Let's all respect ourselves and others.
Have a great day everyone,
Cathy
