Question about when placing an order online

I rarely anymore order from QVC. When I did order this morning, I was surprised that I had to OPT OUT of using easy pay... as easy pay was just automatically added to my order.

I never use easy pay... and thought why would they make a customer opt out of using easy pay....rather than having the customer CHOOSE  to use easy pay and opt in?

I would guess a lot of people do not notice when ordering that they are automatically signed up for easy pay....until after they hit the send button.  That just seems wrong.

This has been in effect for a LONG time now.  I started a thread about it years ago because I agree with you, Easy Pay should be something you choose, not the default.  Many disagreed with me stating it was easy to opt out, so what's the big deal.  I still feel like it's a sneaky practice.

Re: Question about when placing an order online

Very few retailers offer easy pay so of course that's the default & it's easy to change so it shouldn't be an issue...everyone should pay attention to details when ordering online

@SeaMaiden

I guess most people use Easy Pay so they tried to simplify the steps. You can always go back and edit the payment method if you forget....

Doesn't make sense to me - ez-pay ties up THEIR money for months.

If my company - default would be........... Full Cash Payment NOW.

Re: Question about when placing an order online

I sometimes wonder why QVC emphasizes EP.  They are lending money interest free for up to 6 months but I guess they assume people will buy more and that makes up for it?????

Before placing an order read the fine print!

@fthunt    Actually paying in full ties up your money.  If you decide to return the item, it may take 6-8 weeks to get your refund of the total amount.

@Kachina624 I know the game - and do play it - ez-pay works better when returning things.

The amounts I invest in Q purchases doesn't affect my cash flow.or tie much up.

I think EP is the default, because so many people like it and use it, and it takes a one second click to opt out.

If a customer does accidentally choose EP, and submits the order (not sure how that happens, I always carefully review my totals before hitting submit), they can go in and pay off the total.

IMO, there's no right or wrong here, it's just a matter of personal preference.  I suspect, if single pay was the default, the folks who love to use EP, might be complaining.

I can't imagine, why anyone would think QVC was being sneaky offering EP, as first option; that makes no sense to me?

Offering EP, means more work and bookkeeping detail, for the company. I'd think if sneaky was involved, they'd definitely default to single pay, make the customer work a bit harder, for that EP😁and hope if customer made a mistake, they might not go back and change it,

Re: Question about when placing an order online

@SeaMaiden This has been discussed in the Forums many times.

More people choose EZP than pay in full apparently, and one group or the other has to click one extra time.  And now you know what it feels like to be treated as a minority!
