I don’t order much from HSN and I haven’t had the need to exchange anything until a week or so ago. I ordered an item. It arrived in a very short time but it was too small. Unfortunately the color I wanted was sold out in the next size but I did see that HSN did have an exchange policy. So I chose another color and the next size and was amazed to learn that HSN shipped out the new size and color immediately and asked that the other item be returned by a certain date. I immediately returned the other item and within 4 days I received a note from HSN refunding the ENTIRE purchase price including S&H and the new item will be here today. This all took place in less than one week. How is it possible HSN can do this and QVC cannot?

That is a very good point! HSN has been doing this return policy as long as I can remember. Now that they are owned by the same parent company you would think they would have the same policies?!

I didn’t realize HSN sent out an exchange even before they received the original return back. As I said I have not ordered much from HSN over the years. I wonder if the policy will change in view of being bought by the Q

@Teddixat I wonder the same thing. IMO I think HSN has much better customer service. I like the fact that you can get your exchange right away so as not to miss out on the size and color you want.

HSN has had that policy for the entire time I’ve been dealing with them. I don’t understand why QVC doesn’t do it.I guess they don’t trust the customer to return the item. But if that ever happened they could then recharge for the item.So I don’t get why they don’t do it!!

A few things are different between the 2 and I HOPE either they stay that way OR QVC ADOPTS HSN'S return/exchange policy.
*HSN will send out the exchange/replacement item if it is below a specific price or based on your purchase history WITHOUT first having to receive the original item (QVC is the opposite).
*HSN returns are 95% of the time done by UPS. This means your refund is completed within a few days vs almost a month like QVC.
*HSN will credit you the amount of shipping of an item to you via Spendable Kash when using their credit card no matter the reason for the return. QVC does not return S & H UNLESS the item is defective.
*HSN will instruct you to toss out cosmetic items if received broken, used or causes a reaction. In MY experience, I had to return the item to QVC even when broken glass was involved. Only once did I have to do this to HSN in over 25 years.
*HSN will HOLD items if you need to exchange it for another size until your return arrives (this has happened to me when it was multiple items in an order). It reads "Processing" in your account and NO shipping is charged. QVC will not hold an item in any situation and you have to call to have your shipping credited back to you.
These are some major differences and it's why many of us who shop both are concerned what is going to happen down the road. We have already seen what has happened to the Vince Camuto line after it left HSN to come to QVC and we know that the days of great discounts/sales are GONE once an item comes to QVC (HSN discounts to MOVE items and the sales are amazing).
HTH. : )

I have posted twice recently about this great exchange policy, & the only response I got was from the same snarky poster, suggesting I stick to HSN ! Glad to see reinforcements!

@LindaSalIf only shopping were that easy! Lots of stores where I shop are part of a larger corporation, but I can't go from one to the other and expect they will have the same policies - or that each unit with that corporation offers similar quality.
It seems to me that putting 2 or more retail companies under the same corporate umbrella says more to investors than it does to us buyers.
I know I'm cycical, but I'm not expecting QVC to adopt all of HSN policies buy I'm also not expecting HSN to improve its product lines and TV presentations enough to draw me in.
I think of the set-up the way I think of families with 3+ children - each child has its own personality, its own positives and its own negatives. It's rare that all are really the same.

@SahmIam, I'm not sure if you are aware that quite some time ago, HSN made a change to their VIP returns.
You are credited with a flat $5.00 amount in spendable cash when you make a return that was purchased using your HSN card. This is also now limited to 6 returns. You do not receive any s/h credit for any returns over and above 6 per year. The spendable cash credit expires after 90 days.
HSN still refunds original s/h you paid to have the item sent to you. That to me is huge.

@Lipstickdiva You know, I'm not entirely sure as to how much kash I've received from them because of the point you made: HSN returns your ORIGINAL S & H to you no matter how you pay. I'm always surprised to see spendable kash because I usually don't order unless there is free S & H and don't return unless something is damaged (and then they don't charge you S & H). I don't know where this money is coming from but I'll take it!!
It may only be 6 times but that's 6 more than QVC gives you. : )
