Re: QVC seems so out of touch with what’s going on in the world

Last night on HSN, Dr Brent said he was putting his doctor hat on and showed everyone how to properly wash your hands like he was taught in med school. I thought it was very pertinent and well done move on his part. Of course, they were at the same time, airing Beekman soap.

I like Jane....though she gets over the top for my taste and shares too much family info, she is always well-prepared and enthusiastic about the products being sold.  Her loyalty to the Q and dedication to selling is obvious.

With all that's going on, I am not at all interested in watching her or anyone enthusiastically pitching their wares, so I don't turn it on.  If some find it a welcome respite...that's great.  I have other ways I decompress.

I don't watch QVC very often.  This last week I keep flipping over to QVC channels and HSN to escape the news.  Life is normal on QVC.  Their sales might be up, too.

I don't go to QVC for news (I'm often trying to get away from it instead), so business as usual is ok by me.

@Peaches McPhee   The daily talk shows can't "do anything about it" either, but are mentioning it, commiserating with the public and showing their concern...not ignoring the situation.

How much 'mentioning it' and 'showing concern' is enough? Talk shows are info-tainment in focus, they aren't sales shows. I'm sorry, but with all due respect, anyone feeling the need for yet more on-air commentary about this situation and on-air commiserating about it should, perhaps, stick to talk shows and the news. I'm not watching QVC. I rarely do anymore, but it's good to know their focus remains on the reason they broadcast, which is to sell products to their audience.

@Shanus  .. IMHO the talk shows and all media are creating the panic by bombarding us with news about the virus.  As I have written on several of the QVC threads regarding the virus....  My brother who is a physician; his sister-in-law who is an infectious disease specialist, and all his infectious disease specialist colleagues (who by the way are the experts in these matters) are saying that we should worry more about getting the flu. They are also saying wearing masks is totally useless in the prevention of getting sick.  Just take some reasonable precautions and remain calm.

@Boehm Collector ..... and universities, businesses, restaurants are closed why? Schools closed and governors enforcing safety measures for the heck of it? This is not the  "Chicken Little Story". The sky really is falling. Many are not facing the seriousness of the situation. Do as you please.

And what good is to come from beating the subject up? If there is anyone out there unaware, then they are choosing to be unaware, otherwise it would be impossible to remain in the dark. How much discussion is enough? Of course entities of all types are taking action. They have to in order to protect their reputations. Yes, its serious, and yet many of the messages being delivered are also saying the actions being taken are due to a 'abundance of caution'... Continuing to run this story up and down the flagpole in the absence of new information is not serving any useful purpose and, in fact, is only escalating anxiety among many that are already barely coping. I'm sorry @Shanus, you and I post together often and often agree, but we don't agree about this. I see no valid reason why QVC should be speaking out on this subject and my personal view is that the media needs to take a more restrained and professional approach to imparting information that needs to be imparted and keeping their ratings grabs to a minimum.
