QVC laying off 2,000 employees

As a result of the fire last month, QVC is laying off 2,000 employees in North Carolina by mid 2022. No word about where they might locate another facility.

Re: QVC laying off 2,000 employees

This is very, very, sad to hear about.

I will be keeping them and their families in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for sharing this information with us, and for letting us know about this here.

They are laying off employees in 6 months because of a fire last month?

Sounds like cost cutting. Many states have rules about advance noticing when cutting large numbers of employees.

QVC filed the required WARN Act notice with the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

Most of the employees will be terminated effective February 1st, but a small number will remain to wrap up operations expected by midyear.

That is sad, but the bright side is there are so many jobs to be had these days.  Hopefully those people will find good jobs soon.

Re: QVC laying off 2,000 employees

This was posted today by Rocky Mount Mayor Sandy Roberson on QVC's FB page:

"QVC has NOT decided to permanently leave Rocky Mount, as reported in many news outlets. They filed the WARN notice, as required by state regulations, so that QVC employees could file for unemployment insurance. QVC is continuing to work with the state Rapid Response team on ways to support their employees (i.e. job fairs, job training) and has also donated $100,000 toward the employee support fund, led by the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way Tar River Region and Carolinas Gateway Partnership. We are thankful for their continued support in our community. #QVCSTRONG"

Re: QVC laying off 2,000 employees

@SharkE   maybe maybe not.   The week of the fire, I received my order days before it had been promised.  In the last 2 years, QVC delivered each of the orders I made on or before the EDD - the one exception was during a huge snowstorm and then they missed by a whole day.  Big deal!
