@Othereeeen

where do you see the weekly program guide? I'm on an iPad so when I go to program guide it takes me to the current day's programming and does not show who the host is

On the website I get a program guide through March 18th with host(s).

On the app you see the programming through April 1st, no hosting info (unless their name is in the show title.)

I see it on my laptop.

You can see the shows and who is hosting for three weeks, for each channel.

Upper right hand corner "Watch and Shop"

Select "Program Guide".

Average US salary is 54,000 a year.

If they have 25 hosts making that each, thats a payroll of $1,350,000 per year basic payroll alone, not including benefits .

Quick Google search of QVC host salaries are in that ballpark, somemake a lot more, some less.

Go over to the weekly Program Guide ( Upper Right Page under Watch and Shop) page for QVC and QVC 2 channels, pick ONE host, and,  for the week, see how much air time they actually have...it's not as much as I thought, although some hosts are one a little more than other.

I realize they have meetings and other things to do beside on-camera rolls, but I'm talking just about on air time.

Pick ONE host, look at ONE week of LIVE programming, on the live channels.

Don't include the middle of the night previously aired taped shows of course.

I doubt any host makes $54,000. I think the new ones are probably in the $150k range and it goes up from there.

I know someone who works there and believe me, that number is way off. The senior hosts are highly paid. I was shocked!

I had no idea so many keyboard business consultants were on this forum.

@Catch71

I said:  "Some make a LOT more!!!!"

The $54,000. is the national salary average in the US...NOT just for QVC. I used that as a base figure.

I agree that most of them probably DO make a lot more. A quick Google search will tell the tale.

I read somewhere David V makes over 500K ( half a million). I'd beleive that.

@RollTide2008

I don't know what you mean by that.

ANYONE can Google salaries of QVC hosts,and ANYONE can go on Qurate's current job postings to get an idea of salary and benefits they provide, and anyone can read thier press releases on the current layoffs (NOT firings) and see thier stock reports and charts and analysis.

No need to be a consultant.

Sheesh.

I'd think ShopHQ is a smaller company with less product, than QVC. I don't know that for a fact, but it's my impression.

shop HQ has HOUR after HOUR of  the same stuff... watches... that Dr. that sells snake oil and  that gaudy McKinsey dish ware.... worse programing ever.

Maybe someone can clue me in since I usually only tune in to any of the QVC channels during the middle of the night. I think I have seen product reps conducting shows with NO host. Kim Gravel and Susan Graver's sidekick come to mind.

Is QVC just throwing ideas at the wall to determine what will stick? Let's have 3 hosts on each show so they can all talk over one another or let's not have any hosts and just let the product reps run with it. Do you think using only vendors/reps for product presentation is the way of the future?  If so, I wonder when the next hosts' contracts expire if there will be additional lay-offs.
