as opposed to shophq who only has 10?
Well there's your problem right there. You're overloaded with salaries to pay. What a gigantic decision or are some of these people trying out like Spring training for the ball clubs and they will disappear down the road?

I'd think ShopHQ is a smaller company with less product, than QVC. I don't know that for a fact, but it's my impression.

someone will be singing the Spring training blues

Plus ShopHQ is owned by the watch company and other products have been largely scaled down so no need for that many hosts!!

@raspberrygal Shophq is vastly different from QVC. They may be 1/10th the size of QVC. Plus QVC is operating lots of different channels and streaming live channels.
Apples to oranges.

I agree about the need for more hosts on QVC (in comparison) due to simultaneous live programming on Q1 and Q2, plus making the streaming content.
Is 25 the right number...seems a bit top-heavy to me, but we'll see.

The corporation could certainly save money by hiring hosts on a PART TIME basis. Then they would not have to pay good salaries or offer any benefits like health insurance and retirement programs. There would be a bigger turnover in hosts, since many would leave for better opportunities, but the corporation would benefit. They could keep hiring the next group of young, hip, beautiful people to lure the younger customers to tune in and order. That's what they want, right?

Sounds about right.

Average US salary is 54,000 a year.
If they have 25 hosts making that each, thats a payroll of $1,350,000 per year basic payroll alone, not including benefits .
Quick Google search of QVC host salaries are in that ballpark, somemake a lot more, some less.
Go over to the weekly Program Guide ( Upper Right Page under Watch and Shop) page for QVC and QVC 2 channels, pick ONE host, and, for the week, see how much air time they actually have...it's not as much as I thought, although some hosts are one a little more than other.
I realize they have meetings and other things to do beside on-camera rolls, but I'm talking just about on air time.
Pick ONE host, look at ONE week of LIVE programming, on the live channels.
Don't include the middle of the night previously aired taped shows of course.

No matter how you slice it, there are too many hosts presenting too little cogent information during too long presentations about too few products and too frequent presentations of the same products to justify having them all on the payroll, much less consistently having more than one of them on at the same time.
