I LOVE this post!!! (And I agree.)
I agree too. I don't think they will ever appeal to a lot of the younger people--until they get older and have more time to watch TV or perhaps cannot get out as easily.

I still think there are way more that still shop here and like it and it is only a small percentage that is not satisfied. To make changes based on a minority of purchasers would probably not increase sales as it seems many of those who constantly complain have stated they get better deals elsewhere anyway and no matter how many changes would be made to suit them they still would complain and not buy much! While profits may be down in some areas it probabaly does not really mean much and I would think the profits are still bringing in enough money to be profitable enough and there are still big profits coming in. I also don't get those that say they are concerned and want to make QVC see the errors they are making to increase their profits like they are such experts. Anyone posting here does not see the reality of behind the scenes decisions made to run QVC! There is no business that can please everyone and if I were so displeased with any business then I would surely shop where I felt my needs were best met and not try to get a business to change to suit me!

I agree that we baby boomers are still kicking and spending money, but progress is also essential. Things change. That's the way everything works.
That said, however, I feel like some folks do themselves a disservice by 1) thinking it's all about them and what they like, as opposed to what will sell to the largest majority possible; and 2) watching qvc 24 hours a day.
The point is to sell stuff and make as much money as possible. That's not greedy, because that's what they are supposed to be doing. They do the studies and they must know better than we, an extremely small percentage of their over all viewership.
Don't feel like you must watch all the time! I watch the shows I want to watch. I can be in control of that and so can everybody else. If you're watching shows you hate then you are contributing to the numbers to which you should not be contributing.
(Disclaimer - I'm not trying to attack anybody. I am using the term 'you' in the generic sense and it's not pointed at anybody in particular) ![]()

I am so tired of "change the channel" and "shop elsewhere" gang, I think we are all intelligent enough to figure that out, thank you.
I guess you don't understand QVC is not doing that hot financially so they need to make some changes in order to retain and keep current customers engaged. So if all the customers just moved on and didnt bother to shop at QVC they could find themselves in the same boat as retailers in very serious financial trouble--Sears, Kmart, Macy's, JCP etc , is that what you want, just asking?.
<snip>
Perhaps the reason you keep hearing "change the channel" and 'shop elsewhere" is because it's true. If people were smart, that is exactly what they would do, instead of constantly whining about it here.
QVC will do what they need to do. They know about their business much more than any of us do.
Yes, if everyone moved on and stopped shopping at QVC they could be in financial trouble. Welcome to the real world of capitalism. If you look at the bigger picture, the shape of the shopping business world is changing, and fast. Some B&M stores didn't trransition to the online shopping world. TV shopping will evolve too.
Times change, think of those people that lost their jobs when we stopped using tubes in our TVs, phone makers who didn't change to the mobile versions, the makers of TV antennas when we went to cable. It goes on and on.
The companies will figure it out or they won't. They won't stand still though. They won't go back. They will do what is most profitable for them.
I have no issue with people's opinions. Except the ones basically saying that they are entitled to have QVC cater just to them. How dare QVC show something they wouldn't wear, is too young for them, wrong colors, sold by the wrong host and on and on.
Happy shopping!

Millenials don't have jobs and if they do, they are repaying student loans for stupid majors that did not lead them to good jobs. They are not buying. Baby Boomers are the ones who are smart, were responsible, have saved and are buying well into retirement. We are NOT dying off.

Seems they have gotten money hungry too a lot of their own Q card mentioned and some of the hosts have gotten very pushy in their sales pitch, like Jayne Brown. It isn't even as fun to watch their Xmas shows anymore, any show I watch is the same old products over and over. If I see one more Josie Maran show I'm going to scream. Bring back the old QVC it was way more exciting!
ITA. One of the older group that has poured tons of money into this business. Saving Now, prices higher, clothes not as good material wise, some ugly and classless. It was fun to watch with different bender a, but I understand times change and they need to make money. Not going to make it from young peoplee here.
If the older demographic find the products uninteresting, boring, unattractive and repetitious, what makes the Q think the younger will find it different??
