Re: QVC clothing is missing actual designs.

I do not like V-necks,  3/4 sleeves, slub, gauze, polyester, or ankle length. KG and SG are not for me. I miss Bob Mackie, Koos, George Simonton, and Louis. They really were designers. I have pruchased some things from Dennis Basso that were nice quality.

Re: QVC clothing is missing actual designs.

I don't really think these clothes are designed by their reps, I think they are chosen from a manufacturer's factory.  I just saw a sweater similar to one of the most recent PLW offering, the same floral pattern.  How else do they explain all the clothing have eyelet, linen and slub?  Do you think then"designers" all had the same idea? ,

Re: QVC clothing is missing actual designs.

As far as I am concerned, the Q has very little uniqueness in their clothing offerings, except for a few.  I never buy clothes from the Q.  I would be afraid of seeing myself coming and going.  When I watch, I feel like I'm watching a commercial for clothes sold at Sears or Tractor Supply.

I think the target age of OVC is way past the designer stage of their life. I see post from women that are in their mid 70's and above. Most of the would have no where to wear them. I doubt anyone would show up at their senior center in a designer dress. They seem to be more of a crop pant and button down or T shirt kind of a crowd. No offense intended

You make good points.  There are a lot of offerings from designers that I would have no place to wear!  I love looking at them but at this stage of my life, church is about the extent of my outings (or restaurants LOL).  I do buy some of the fancier things if I have an occasion but mostly it's KG or LZ for me!

How many ways can you design a top?  QVC viewers want elbow length sleeves (check) long length to cover you bum (check) Sweet heart neckline (check) Lots of pink colors (check)  There's your design

@songbird LOL!!!  No way!  Not a fan of elbow length sleeves (either none, shorter or 3/4 length for me); no tunic length tops, v neck preferred, and not a big fan of pink.  Turquoise, black, navy, white, coastal blue, coral please. Woman LOL

I don't know why people complain about QVC not having design.  QVC now sells basics, generous fit, sizing not usually too specific, etc.  But there are thousands of places that sell other things.

Right after I read your response I saw this being presented

Re: QVC clothing is missing actual designs.

True designers will design for all lifestyles.  Dell'Olio did as did Mackie and the others I mentioned in a previous post.  Isaac and Basso are the only true designers QVC has although I'm sure they have "teams" that design for them now.  But they have the credentials of drawing their own designs and having runway shows.  To me that is a designer not people like SG, BG, etc., etc

Re: QVC clothing is missing actual designs.

I would think that all mass market vendors (like HSN and QVC) are trying to find the sweet spot for price, quantity and what is on offer by manufacturer.

Styles might lean one way or another but at these price points, selection from factories is limited.

If QVC did bring in real designers, people would complain about the prices.

Re: QVC clothing is missing actual designs.

And those upper end ready to wear designers are pricey but their customers find them. Even though I'm an older customer I do still prefer fashions that are not 'elder-ware' when I go to the country club.

" I see post from women that are in their mid 70's and above. Most of the would have no where to wear them. I doubt anyone would show up at their senior center in a designer dress." I'm in my 70's but I would happily compare wardrobe labels with some women half my age.

Same here I like classic clothes but not so much an older look.  Talbots is my go-to always a great selection and quality.
