QVC Pricing games-Clearance price

I know this has been discussed before but I ran across another example of QVC 's silly and bizarre pricing games tonight.  I was looking at Issac's suede and leather jacket which is "Clearance" priced at $129.96.  DEcided to watch the video to better see the colors and fit.  ON the video with Shaun it is "CLearance" priced at $96.00! THe new clearance price is $33.00 more than the old clearance price.  Who does this sort of game playing in the retail world?  CLearance is supposed to mean that there are only broken sizes and colors and it will not be brought back so we want to get rid of our inventory.  Well I will not be joining  in these silly games.  DEfinitely buyer beware!

Re: QVC Pricing games-Clearance price

I have also noticed this up and down "clearance" pricing. An item will be marked clearance and priced low and then in the next few days the same item will still be marked as clearance but it will be twenty or thirty dollars more ! QVC What's with that??????

Re: QVC Pricing games-Clearance price

Yesterday QVC had special clearance pricing. The hosts announced many times during the shows that the prices would change at midnight. I guess you could say that in this case it paid literally to be watching the presentations, or be shopping on line. Kind of like blue light specials.

Re: QVC Pricing games-Clearance price

I ordered a cardigan on clearance price 5 days earlier. The clearance price on Sunday was more than $11 cheaper. I called CS and asked if they would honor the lower price. They did without hesitation, and refunded me the difference. I was very pleased, but lucky I had checked online for the delivery status and happened to see it was cheaper when I decided to see if it came in another color. It's back up to the higher clearance price today. The pricing this weekend was very good on many items, but the 50% off is misleading. The half price was off the QVC price, which many of these items never sold for. They were at featured or introductory price (whatever it's called now), so the savings was actually a lower percentage, but I'll take it regardless. I can say that in all my years shopping at QVC, this was the only seasonal sale that came close to those of a store with a door.

The psychology of sales pricing really does affect our perception of a "good deal." When JCP got rid of sales and coupons and priced everything at a lowest price point they saw sales plummet. We love our coupons!!

Re: QVC Pricing games-Clearance price

I bought several things Monday during the "clearance" show.  They had some of the best prices I had ever seen on QVC....real 50% off.  The hosts did keep repeating that at the end of the day, the prices would go back up and sure enough they did.

This worked out okay for me, but I guess I don't understand the clearance prices going back up, but they were true to their word!

The confusing thing is I think most of us think of true clearance prices keep getting slashed down until they sell, not going back up.

Re: QVC Pricing games-Clearance price

Monday was the day to be shopping at the Q....they had some great clearance pricing and many on e-z pay if you use that...

However the hosts repeated many times during presentations that the special pricing would go up at midnight...and they did...no surprises for me....

Re: QVC Pricing games-Clearance price

Years ago they used to put things on clearance only to hike them back up to full price later.  I guess they received more stock or something.  This was before as is, too.

Agreed, but why call all the different prices "clearance"?

I think QVCs clearance prices/shows are just another name for the same old shows selling the same old stuff. To me, clearance is something you want to get rid of because it's old stock and you're not getting more in. Lol, we know QVC sells the same old stuff year after year after year. The hosts say something is a cleatance price, but tell you the next day it's going to be back at the regular price. Lol. I would think clearance prices keep going down, not up.

Re: QVC Pricing games-Clearance price

I have to agree that it seems like QVC is playing games.  I ordered a C Wonder top last week.  It was on clearance.  My first time trying this line, so I hope I like it.  I noticed on Monday that the top was now at a lower clearance price, $15 less.  I called customer service and they gladly refunded the difference.  I had been thinking about ordering another color, but wanted to wait until I got the first one.  So I asked customer service if the new lower clearance price was one day only, or permanent.  She told me that the current lower rate would be good for the next several days.  Well the next day (Tuesday), it was back up the previous clearance price.  I ordered the second color, and called customer service again, and got the lower price for the second top.  The first one should arrive today.

I was not watching QVC on Monday and did not hear that the clearance prices would be going back up the next day.  I agree with others that CLEARANCE means that it is marked down to that price, and should never go back higher.  It could certainly go lower as the inventory decreases.

What QVC is doing seems crazy.  Not only that, it could be frustrating for customers to have to always wonder if they got the best deal and constantly check the current price of stuff they just bought.  Plus, if you actually like the item and want to go back and get a second one, now you could pay more for it, and that would not make a customer happy.

Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else. Margaret Mead
