Re: QVC Price Increases!

[ Edited ]

@BrandiDavis

You are definetly on point about the majority of the QVC viewers shopping for the best bargain versus the price is no object shopper....

I totally agree with you....Since we can work at home at lot, and even when we are at the office, the dress is now casual, unless you are attending an important meeting----so my dress is usually jeans or nice pants and a t-shirt or nice top or blouse...sneakers or flats are my shoes of choice, with an occasional sandal in hot summers....Looking nice casual and comfy, HEY QVC I thought that was THE TREND these days!

QVC USED TO BE the channel that offered the $30 tops thats what Denim & Co and Sport Savvy WERE....Now D&C looks just like all QVC's other clothing lines and their prices have been HIKED way up there with their other clothing lines too. I know things need updating, but it appears their clothing is NOTHING but FADS & TRENDS, how about a variety of some modern classic styles...

Its difficult to find something nice that has a STRAIGHT HEM instead of the "DIAPER HEM" (ya know longer in the back---WHY???? Does QVC think viewers want to hide the fact that women might be wearing incontinence garments or something???? what is the reasoning behind every top and t-shirt style being like this--I dont see this much in local stores) And then there's the "fit and flare" or peblum that makes most woman look like they are wearing a maternity top---JMHO Yep, your right, I'm not going to spend over $100 on jeans or a top....there's better options out there that are good quality at a good price! Who cares if a QVC vendor has their product on a celebrity list, or they have celebrity clientel.....

Yes, QVC has more overhead being on TV, I guess that's the convenience we pay for to see the product demonstrated, but COME ON, some of the prices are just OFF-KILTER with the rest of the retail competition...is the vendor just being a tad greedy?????????

The jewelry used to be AFFORDABLE (yes gold prices have gone up but come on other retailers still have prices that dont require a financing program)....and QVC USED TO HAVE even some nice FASHION JEWELRY that always seemed to sell well....

And so many EXPENSIVE TSV's appliances and contraptions and electronics....I guess they figure they might not sell many, but they can still make a profit by bringing in a smaller inventory to sell because of the price point of the item.....

I think being out of touch is why QVC's revenue/sales heve been on a down trend...customers feel like you and me and are watching & buying less....

JMHO and thanks for letting me vent....

I stated a simple fact for why I ( this is MY) idea on ONE reason I think they’ve increased the prices.

Have you ever made your clothes?  I have, and I can tell you it cost me more money to purchase more material when the dress design called for more material.

Do you think China just “gives” QVC the extra material required for the larger sizes?

My post had nothing to do with “people’s” sizes.

My post was explaining one reason I think prices have gone up.  Nothing is as simple as extra material, but it all adds to it.

The minute someone says anything about larg(er) sizes...the person gets jumped on.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Since you seemed to be concerned about my sleep last night ( or lack of) I will tell you I’ve been carefully monitoring it and...maybe you’ll be happy to hear it is greatly improving.

I know EXACTLY how I’ve slept (i.e. REM, light, etc) for this past week because I purchased the QVC TSV recently.

You might remember it.  It was the Fitbit Versa 2.  It monitors my sleep patterns, etc. So I hope that causes you to no longer have concern for what side of the bed I got out on.

Also, I will add I’ve had 3 professional sleep studies done...Just want you know I. On top of my sleep monitoring so you don’t worry.

In conclusion, I would ask that you don’t presume to think you know what I’m thinking.

I thought I explained my thought process in a timely way.

If not, I sincerely apologize.  if you’d like to discuss anything else about this subject, please let me know.

As for any other discussions about other subjects...I don’t think this is the right place to do it as I’d like this to be about why QVC has been raising their prices..MY opinion.

Thank you for your response.  All comments, are, as always welcome.  Please let’s not make this about weight.

As a fat person myself, I find it a discussion that is much too sensitive.

The fact that usually KING, QUEEN, FULL bedspreads, mattress pads, sheets, etc.

are often priced differently is because there’s more fabric/material used for them.

For years I wondered about the actual *cost* of fabric for a size Small, compared to a 2X, for example.

I assume the Q just averages it out to a price somewhere in the middle

(plus a few bucks extra!).

I am simply curious myself, not to blame anyone of any particular size,

I find it interesting that a Size 0 coat is priced the same as a Size 1X.

Wouldnt the labor costs be higher on an embroidered or trimmed coat as well?

..........just one of those random questions that pop in my head too..

I was shocked to see basic tops on Denim & Co at a price of $46 yesterday.  Not only have the clothes gotten ugly, they are now way too expensive.

I totally agree with you in every respect.. (especially the social security thing ,I tell my children by the time they get to drawn their social security there will be none.. ) So yes they are paying for us because the government doesn't stick to their budgets. didn't mean to go there. Yes I find I am not buying as much and even my husband has noticed it , everything is so much higher. I realize things go up, but for a t-shirt( Lori Goldstein)that can cost over $70.00 nope cannot do it .. I usually buy from Susan Graver or Denim&Co but even that has gone much higher .. Susan for sure. I find sometimes I can a better purchase from Isaac or Belle Gravel. it's frustrating.. half the time I don't even turn QVC on.. sad isn't it?

@Spurt   I took a break after X-Mas.  I have come back to see that nothing has changed.  I agree prices og items with shipping are crazy and the styles  (No thanks)   Today I have tuned in about 4 times and all that is on is the IPAD.   Still over kill with the TSV,  My interest in watching is none anymore.   Shame

HI! Yep, nothing has changed---- QVC is maintaining its "brilliant" status quo....They even had David doing a lengthy presentation on the IPAD....I guess his show's name should be changed to IN THE KITCHEN WITH DAVID & ELECTRONICS ..Woman LOL  Thankfully XFL Football started and I grabbled my remote ....

@Spurt you are so right about the comparison prices and of course the sales on Q that are not really sales at all since they are usualy 2 or 3 dollars off. Once in a while they will have a bigger price drop but not often enough for me to think it's a bargain to shop with them for a sale.

I needed a new pair of dress slacks and a jacket for work - my job has changed and I may have to show up at meetings that require more than "business casual" that I usally wear. So I looked at Talbots online and bought two wool jackets and 2 pair of dress pants at better than 50% off the original price and splurged on a 3rd jacket just because I really liked the color! The shipping for everything was $8.00. $8.00!! Tried them on and everything fit so I'm set.

I recently bought a pair of 24/7 capris and a sweater from IM's line - both in my regular size and neither item fits so I have to return them and pay for shipping both ways. Not a bargain at all.

@Spurt Loved your post! well said. I would really like to see a straight hem again too. I don't want an overlong back or a shark bite or some weird looking variation. I always think its interesting that so many of the hosts talk about needing to "hide" your back side. Well I don't find that wearing an overly long shirt does anything flattering for my figure.

Glad you found some good deals at Talbots......Q is NO DEAL when ya gotta return things because sizing is so inconsistent...especially IM's line...

I think instead of HIDING your back side, the "diaper hem" draws attention to it.....
