Welcome, back Spurt!  When I didn't see a post from you last week I was really hoping you were off on a vacation to someplace fabulous like maybe a tropical island that doesn't get Q reception!  I really hate hate hate bugs, bees and wasps in particular, so I feel really bad for your ordeal.

Usually on a boring progamming weekend I can usually find Something to watch, but this weekend, nothing.  Not doing the Christmas thing.  I do love your holiday critters though.  I hope you have a huuuuuge arsenal of them as it's going to be  a looong 5 1/2 months!  I've only been regularly reading here for a few months, so I missed the postings from last holiday season.  I imagine it gets very hard to keep it fresh when in the whole month of December, the Program Guide just lists entire days of shows as "Rick's Gift Favorites," "Carolyn's Gift Favorites," "Saturday Morning Gifts," "Gift Shopping with Albany," and "Jacque's Holiday Party."  (The 'Holiday Party' ones really slay me because there's nothing party-ish about it - just more flashlights and Poo Pourri.)  This has to be a major challenge to try to spin in a creative vein when they give you so little to go on, but I have no fear your kitties and pups will be up for the challenge!

@SHIRAZHi SHIRAZ---thank you for your nice comments--yep, I too wish I had spent time and money on a nice vacation instead of seeing doctors......

Yep QVC's endless Christmas programming does offer a real challenge to keeping the previews fresh----and don't remind me about all those Host Favorites Gift Shows...ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!---And isn't is just a coincidence how ALL the hosts pick the SAME THING as their favorites....LOL!!!! Maybe I WILL take that real vacation instead Smiley Very HappySmiley LOLSmiley LOL  But I did see some interesting animal species that may also help us celebrate the season in their festive attire....stay tuned!!!

Re: Q DID WHAT? WEEKEND PREVIEW JOY TO THE WORLD! July 17 & 18

Hey Spurt, it seems like you're feeling a bit more up to snuff...  As for the Qwapitol, well, today and tomorrow are slated to be very hot and humid (then showers for the duration...) and I have to say, I've about had my fill of summer weather.  Not much going on here.  I've spent a fair amount of time reading and going to the pool, but on a day like today when the temps approach the upper nineties (probably higher with the humidity) even the pool doesn't much appeal...  Continue putting off my house work and projects as I simply have no motivation whatsoever.

As for me and the old Q, I have to say, I've upped my ante and I'm now closer to 95% out the door as opposed to only three quarters of the way.  It's all just so silly, really.  Then, most of the hosts on most often aren't terribly likable or enjoyable, and the merchandise is just. plain. boring.

I haven't watched a minute of CIJ and don't plan to.  I DVR'd VPH's show yesterday, but after seeing what was presented online, deleted it without watching... Pure unmitiaged junk, for the most part, and the sets would have needed to be absolute paradise to have induced me to watch her and Leah hawking that drivel...  I might tune in tonight for a few minutes and then go from there...  But hey, at least those eggs were pretty and nicely made.  Hand over fists more appealing than the 'Vegas' glitter angels and the rest of the too-cute kitsch they clearly have in store for those watching this holiday season...

As for La Marm, well no.  Just no.  On so many levels.  No and no again.

As for gem day, I don't know, Spurt, QVC just doesn't interest me anymore.  I see they had some pretty things, but I guess I just don't care.  Looking online, the pieces I liked weren't affordable and yet the affordable pieces were, overall, just rather unappealing...I've been doing less and less shopping here and more and more locally and, for now, it suits me fine.

Fashion Monday is a complete non-starter and yes, I think you're right.  They picked the wrong hosts, but regardless, the line-up just isn't of interest.  They tinkered with a somewhat winning formula, even if it was on the stale side (what here isn't) and their tinkering isn't to my liking, so why would I watch...  Even as background noise, I find I'm leaving the set on other things because the overall approach here has just become a combinatinon of tiring, tedious and annoying...

Yes indeed, fall and football (college for me) are looking better and better!  As you know, I very much enjoyed the college world series back in the late spring and early summer, but have been forced to try to watch the pros, given the meager offerings on TV... Unfortunately, while I like baseball, the pro game isn't nearly as much fun (on TV anyway) as were the college games...

Enjoy the day and hoping you continue to feel better...

Hi Spurt, so glad to hear you are making a good recovery from your wasp sting. They are scary for sure! Because we had a lot of Spring rain, the bee & wasp population in AZ are really going strong this summer. I've never seen a bee in 8 years at this house & one day i found a bee on the inside of the window of my second bedroom!  I got him out & watched him fly around for a few minutes, then he disappeared forever. All i can figure is that he was part of a swarm & he got lost somehow. Havent seen a bee since.

Love your Christmas pics, they are all great. Was delighted to see the picture of Salem, the black cat from Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. I used to watch that show just to see him :-)

Didn't turn on the T.V. until Jill's show had started, but I immediately thought of you when I saw Jim Shore presenting his 2015 dated ornament. It was under $15!  She had some nice things & i really had to resist the light-up birds because I only have a small area I can decorate for Christmas & my active cats would no doubt accidently break it if I put it anywhere else. Looking forward to VPH although i might miss the "all-new" show :-(

I used to enjoy it when QVC had one day shows on the 25th of the month because i knew when they were. Now i just find things by accident, but since i dont buy i guess it doesnt really matter . Take care & stay away from things with stingers! :-)  You were definitely missed last week.

@mewsmomtoo....Hey MEWS!!!!  How ya been?  I think your right, I think with all our rain here too the bees and wasps are a bit ornery and seem to be more prevelant as our spiders.......I just hope the wolf spider doesn't return---those are real scary!!!--SHUDDER!!! One was sitting on my front porch just waiting, it ran to the other side of the house and I hope the heck it stays there!!! There was something on the news about "the missing million bees" and their impact on agriculture since they are important to pollination of plants etc etc....I do see a stray bumble bee around here too now and then and wish they would stay with their hive.....but I'm making sure to stay clear of them......

I didn't realize until you said it, I was just trying to find some cat with food, ...it is indeed the cat from Sabrina--I do remember the cat from that show ....LOL!!!

I was just heading out the door turning off the TV when I saw Jill mention that Jim Shore would be on with his exclusive 2015 ornament---heard it sold out---but he had other nice things on his early morning Sunday show to tempt me with.....

So your kitties are active "Christmas hunters"...I bet our cats think we put up all these decorations just for them to play with...new toys for them.....LOL.....One of my cousins used to actually put a baby gate around his Christmas tree so his cats wouldn't destroy it.....I always have to put unbreakable ornaments near the bottom of the tree in case my cats get an urge to whack 'em.....

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.....take care.....

I see that mews mom saw Jim Shore on Jill's show today, and that was when the new ornament was presented...sorry I missed that! Hope they can fill the waitlist orders.

@september  Hopefully they will fill your wait list order for the 2015 ornament. Did you get your Mr. and Mrs. Claus. He had so many nice things on his show this morning and reasonbly priced too......I did purchase the kitty with the ornament and the kitty dressed as Santa Claws, and the angel with the gifts......those Santa and Angel figurines with the moving parts were very nice too---so tempted on that auto delivery---and I liked the Easter and Thanksgiving pieces that went along with it.....but sigh.....so many great items and so little display room or storage (I do like to rotate my collection).....I'm thinking about the mini ones for gifts.....may go back online....He had too many tempting items.....And I was glad Courtney gave him a chance to talk this time.

@vicalynn  Hi LYNNSY--glad to hear y'all got some rain in California, hope you get some more......LOL at your remark about your car blending in with the front yard.....Take Care!

@stevieb  Yep I'm healing nicely and almost up to snuff......After all our rain, summer seems to have just started here and I'm already sick of it!!!! And it's hot and dry and not even a chance of an afternoon scattered shower....I had to laugh at my DS---we went to lunch yesterday late afternoon and she remarked how she liked the dry heat that we were experiencing---I told her my take was I don't like any kind of heat dry or humid, but it was funny as the day wore on and it got hotter as we went to the bookstore and ran into Target (since I forgot something at the grocery store) she started to whine about the heat....what happened to  "it's not the heat, it's the humidity".....LOL!   And I agree with you, heat takes all the motivation out of me too........I struggle to get done what I have to do....

As Gina, I and others have commented on this, ....is it our imagination or did the Q bring out their fall clothing a tad early.....school starts in mid August here and the Department Stores have not yet put out their fall wear, yet the Q seemed to have begun the season back in June....perhaps they are not purchasing as much merchandise, especially spring/summer merchandise, could it perhaps be caused by a LACK IN THEIR SALES ???? It was announced that QVC and HSN will show their 2nd quarter results in  August---should be interesting reading......

I saw some of the evening VPH Show, and yes it was mostly mercury glass and gazing globes....and I noticed those mercury figurals did slightly resemble those that Thomas Paconni used to have....remember him....a vendor that was scooted out the door by QVC---I have his large nativity set and a beautifully made wooden jewelry case---I guess his items were too unique or perhaps too high quality for QVC....let's bring in tons of flameless candles in varying degrees of quality made by many different manufacturers and then let's bring in the same Christmas decor and ornaments like last year instead (SARCASM)....I know, I know the eggs were beautiful, loved the Christmas tunes Valerie chose, it wasn't that they weren't nice, it was just a case of OVERKILL (a word QVC doesn't have in their dictionary along with the words "variety" and "unique").

Oh yes, Gem Day was out of my price range too, a shame they didn't have MORE affordable and stylish pieces---but nice to see unique gems that have been absent for a long time.  The show with Jennifer and Peyton was nice to window shop with......

And with the abscence of LR, and with Lisa M and Carolyn out on leave what does QVC have left in the host department....and those chosen to be pushed out front seem to be irritable, unhappy, frantic, and unable to handle it all........which makes it all the more UNWATCHABLE, which I usually don't do much anymore......but curiosity more than anything had me have it on in the background for CIJ---and hey it is better than some of the so called comedy out there on the other channels, and I'm tired of Golden Girl reruns .....Smiley Wink  Talk about REPITITION, their TSV presentations are on even more frequently and more often, (killing more time) ---not selling as expected perhaps, making me use my remote frequently and often......QVC has indeed lost it's luster........and you go throw HSN in that mix too.... I will watch Valerie's evening show, but I think I will save my money and visit that charming shop in Fredericksburg---that shop keeper always has the nicest things, they're my style and they are unique too....yep I'd rather spend my decorating money there......

You know what I think of baseball, but I resorted to watching some of the NBA Summer League (summer Spurs doing well--Smiley Happy ) .........well it beats QVC!!! Last year I got a little more involved in college football. If nothing is going on, it's nice to tune in to a college game, which does seem to have more energy, excitement, and spirit, than some of the pro games, and fun to get together and watch with a few friends.......Fall hurry up and get here already!!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and stay cool!

To those that love these Christmas in July shows. Enjoy!

I just can't even think about it this early in the year. I live in Southern California, as I gaze into my  backyard that is completely dead. I do not water  due to our drought conditions.

I then can turn my attentions to my front yard which is a browinish. yellowish color. I water the front twice a week and sometimes I sneak in three days.  Woo..hooo.

Let's see the temperatures are in the 90's and to top it off. I have the news on and I am watching a fast moving brush fire that has burned up several cars on the freeway, and has now started to burn structures.

Nope, I am just not feeling like it's christmas right now.

Even though we are dealing with the severe drought you are, it is dry here and we have just been declared in a drought.  Top it off with 100+ degrees (real temp, not heat index!) day after day, I am with you, can't think too much about Christmas and winter!  And we have 100+ days since early June which is early for us, usually it is in the dog days of August.

I read that drones interfered with helicopters and planes being able to put out the fire - do those idiots running the drones not care about the havoc they cause??

stevie, I am with you - gem days used to interest me, too, but no more. I checked out opal online since it is my birthday, but decided I did not need anything. Plus I have to save every penny right now so that I can buy my truckload of hay.  Woohoo!

I checked out the VPH rocking horse, which would have interested me, but there were quite a lot of negative reviews about the quality of the paint job, so that convinced me to not buy one in the future.  I have done no shopping from Q, canceled all my auto-deliveries except the wreaths I give my dog vet and my elderly aunt in Maryland.  Prices on many things are just not competitive any more, you can buy them cheaper elsewhere, with free shipping.

And there is more and more of Temp-tations in new patterns, new cookbooks, etc. UGH.  Her plastic containers get scathing reviews.

As far as I am concerned, the QualityValueConvenience just isn't there any more.

SPURT, am so happy you are doing well and have recovered from your wasp sting!  An allergic reaction like that can be scary!

We all missed your synopsis of upcoming shows over the weekend.  I wanted to thank you for showing labs in an earlier post.  You know I love my labs!

Hot as you know what here, and dry.  The gnats are bad, so I have fly/gnat masks on the horses to keep them out of their eyes.  When those masks first came out, a woman saw some horses in a field with fly masks on and she called the police because she thought the owner had blindfolded the horses!  haha, too funny.  I just wish they made them for people!  My horseshoer hates this time of year because of the gnats.

Anyway, again, I am so glad you are back and in true form!

@Spurt if you are looking for something to watch on Monday's, I've been watching Scorpion and I find I really like it.  It may not be for you, but I would rather watch that than the stuff that is on for "fashion night".  Then again in the fall, I'm going to try going back to spin class and that will be on Monday's too so I'll DVR my show & miss all the QVC stuff I don't care about.  Right now, I'm riding outside when it isn't 100 degrees!  LOL
