@Winter Holiday part of the problem was that they didn't OFFER much jewelry for the holidays.  They should have had jewelry shows in their rotation in October and November to entice people to buy.  I bought jewelry for gifts, I just didn't buy it from QVC.  They have overpriced their items to a great degree and continue to bore me to tears with the styles.  When I can find better deals and more interesting pieces from chain retail stores, well, that is where my $ will go.

Waiting to show jewelry for sale the week before Christmas is way too late.  I've already shopped.

I completely agree @GinaV24... They bore the audience senseless from September through mid-December showing the same stale, boring, redundant array of supposed 'gifts' and essentially show no jewelry... Most people I know would much rather have a pretty trinket than a windshield cover or a battery charger... But alas, it's also true that when they virtually got out of the jewelry business a few years back they appear to have lost their edge, because so many of the designs they offer when they do offer them... are stale and redundant... Actually, I think Stale and Redundant should be their new name... And added to that, yes, largely over-priced. Aside from the recent gold day, their jewelry shows are neither inspiring nor inspired. The recent gem day wasn't particularly exhilarating and today's offerings surely aren't either... and the prices for silver are ludicrous.

I've been shopping with the Q since first quarter 2008, if I recall correctly.  Perhaps it started because my husband died and later that year I found out we had QVC on cable while I was recovering from surgery.  Perhaps it was the novelty of shopping at the Q.  All I can say is I spent considerable money on things here for a few years.  I liked Denim & Co, George Simonton, Linda Dano furniture/decor etc.  They had pretty cool things I'd never seen before.  Then I discovered the mother of all stores - Amazon.  Not that I shop on Amazon all that much, heck I never enrolled in their Prime program.

I like the variety.  I prefer Prezerve jewelry storage for my sterling, which I bought alot of from the Q.  Little by little I saw my choices declining.  The only game in town from a jewelry storage perspective became Lori Grenier.  I got nothing against Lori.

I liked the Steel by Design jewerly alot.  Prices shot up on that and the selection in designs took a turn that I didn't want to follow.  So I found Stately Steel, elsewhere.

Like I said, I don't know if businesses went out of business or what.  We lost Birkenstock, they killed off great house brands like Motto and the prices of Graver and Denim & Co shot through the roof for what they are (IMHO).

I don't know, I guess all businesses have to evolve.  Every once in a while I get something cool here like that Snow Joe crazy looking 2 handled shovel that I can't rave about enough.  I like my occasional Oryany handbag.

I will say one thing that HSN does that puts the Q to shame - that channel knows how to have a clearance sale.  They also reimburse me the difference when a price goes down in 30 days - caught them on that more than once, lol.

Birdie @Bird mama... the operative word is 'evolve'... And had they done that they might still be competitive, but they didn't. Instead they devolved... They narrowed their focus so far and concentrated too much on too little and now it's come back to bite them where they sit... Good... They were warned...

As for HSN, yes, they have real sales and they offer real incentives. I just got a coupon from them yesterday. I didn't use it, but I still got it and then it's my choice whether to use it or not... Meanwhile, here in Q-land, they hold onto inventory for a decade and then mark it down a few dollars... and their answer to everything is more Easy Pay... They deserve to be in the qwapper... right along with their twenty buck 'try on' fee... I hope they'll be very happy together...

I am not surprised at the low Christmas sales.  At a time when people are in a buying frame of mind, the Q offered mostly practical items.  Not exactly festive.  I seldom watch, but I don't recall seeing any toys either.

I think QVC needs a customer advisory panel because many of their decisions just don't make sense,

@ Montana  QVC could start by reading the comments on this board!  We are a customer Advisory Panel!  And free!

Amen sister and they should've started reading them about seven or so years ago when some of us first started noticing and posting about how bad things were becoming...

If many of you don't like what QVC sells or its  programming why do you watch QVC? Why do you come on these boards and post negative comments about QVC? Why not just leave the boards and go on to something that you do like to buy and watch?

Some of you will say that this is a free country and you have free speech, but why post negative posts about a company on the company's website so that people who actually buy from QVC and like it are subjected to your negativity.

How about posting positive ideas on how QVC can be better? Make the world a more positive place.

I don't watch QVC, at least not anymore. I say what I think and have for some time because for some ridiculous reason and against all seeming odds... some level of hope springs eternal that someone in their corporate hierarcy will begin listening to customers and will foster positive change before it really is too late... Other than that, sorry, I guess I'm just not a Kumbaya kind of girl...

Did you keep your Halo Bolt?  I ordered it, charged it up and found it wouldn't keep a 60 W lamp going for more than 30 mins.  I returned mine.  Is yours working better for you?

@Bird mama.....OH NO!!!  I haven't had to use it for my car yet (fingers crossed), but it charges my IPAD.  I haven't plugged in an appliance though.....hmmmmm, maybe I should try that.

I bought 2 Halo's they both work great.  I haven't had to jump a car yet, but lost power one night and had a lamp in for 1/2 hr and still had 3 lights lit.  If you have any issues contact Halo, if it is within the year.  I had an old one that would not charge and they replaced it.   Good Luck!

@Pearlee, Apparently QVC does not value the advice of the forum posters. Perhaps a formal group with a  corporate title would be more to their liking.

Re: Q DID WHAT? QVC 4th QUARTER RESULTS

@Squirrel Lover  I rarely watch QVC.  I turn on AM Style to chat with a group of women who have been coming together for 8 or 9 years now.  To be honest, if you put a knife to my throat, I couldn't tell you what Leah is showing on any given Saturday.

I responded to this thread because the earnings report was posted and in that report, QVC noted it wasn't doing well in the USA.

My post reflects my experience over what I consider a relatively short shopping time, all things considered.  In that post I spoke about ideas as to why this woman stopped spending thousands to barely spending a couple of hundred (especially if I didn't buy an oryany bag).

I like most of the hosts on QVC.  I don't want QVC to go under - they employ many people and I don't want folks to lose their jobs.

I come to these boards because at one point I was a Q customer, that is until QVC decided that their customers who live in Canada were no longer valuable to them. I still enjoy chatting with people here and I don't just discuss QVC merchandise or their business. The Shopping Channel in Canada has vendors from the big 3 U.S. shopping channels - QVC, HSN, and Evine as well as vendors from JTV. I've been buying off of TV since 1993 at least so I'm pretty familiar with what the various shopping channels sell. I'm also interested in the business of retailing and read various blogs about them. I like discussing beauty, fashion, and the retailing business.

What would I tell QVC? Let the Canadian customers back in. Have a variety of products on air. Enough with the stale rotation of the same products ad nauseum. Have real sales and make shipping attractive. You aren't going to close a sale when there is a high de facto try on fee for clothes and shoes that need to be returned because of poor fit.

I watch enough HSN and Evine to know that they have real sales. TSC in Canada also has real sales (but they don't ship to the U.S.) QVC's 5 bucks off sales and endless easy pays don't cut it in today's world.

@shell garden LOL you should know better by now.  Things will never stay on one thread - never.  Look at how many threads there are on Louis' new Mardi Gras necklace in that subforum.  The posters on this board will never keep everything on one thread.

Furthermore, as I say, this whole board is an advisory panel.  Maybe Q should hire one person whose job it is solely to read this board and convert comments here into constructive criticism for the company. (Different from the mods' jobs).

Anyway, nice thought but it won't work and IMO isn't even really necessary - since we make advisory comments all the time - just about everywhere here.

@Pearlee....well, you are certainly right about that, lol.

The Christmas shopping was the worst ever.   Nothing new, same old stuff, over and over and over.  What I don't get is Home Shopping was first and Q had to learn from them to get started.  Why don't they compare and realize why this is happening?   I also agree with someone on here (not this forum) hubby passed the TV and said "oh you are watching the shoe shopping channel"?

I also agree starting beauty IQ was not too smart.

@BalletBabe.....I agree with what you said.  They had better changes things up for the better or the Q is gonna get a lot more worse.

Hey......whatever happened to that David guy that used to present jewelry?  And.....why do they need a new host (although seems like part-time) for diamonique?  Ridiculous!!!!!!

@shell garden

I found this out on the Jewelry part of the Forum....it seems the jewelry buyer, David M., is no longer employed by QVC.....If you check out Linkedin he lists QVC as a former employer.....I didn't like the stuff he brought to QVC it was all the same style, too expensive, it was gold/silver clad and LOTS of bronzo---and reading the reviews the bronze on the jewlery seemed to peal away......he was always patting himself on the back for the "special favors" he brought to QVC but I sure as heck didn't see anything special......  I do like Peyton the gem buyer........I agree they don't need a vendor for diamonique it just adds to the cost for the customers and I think the hosts adequately described the diamonique pieces......they aren't really my style anyway.......
