@Spurt Loved the pictures! Thanks for a fun post. I’m with the cat on the exercise bike! 🙀

The can I use to gas up my lawn mower is smaller than the jug of Hula Girl that Leah is holding.

For those that want to get into an exercise routine, they won't need to buy excercise weights they can use that jug of Philosophy instead...

@Spurt, Hey, well, I survived, I made it, I retired. They tried to kill me at the end, but were not successful. And they were very generous, two lunches, and lots of wonderful gifts including two tickets to the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, NC in Sept.! Plus a free place to stay at one of the professor's homes in the mountains! So, all it will cost is gas, food, parking and of course, have to have a t-shirt or two! But, no alarm clock most days, no stress of deadlines at work or from managing millions in research grant dollars. Yippee!
I have my new black Lab, she is small, very sweet, but had lived in a kennel her life, so she is constantly spooked by things in the house. She went running out of the kitchen when I opened the bottom freezer drawer! She constantly scares herself checking things out, if it makes the slightest noise, out she runs. AND, I am getting a yellow lab this weekend. She is 3, trained to hunt, but needs to be in a home with no kids. She will be my first yellow.
Hope you have been well! I have done absolutely nothing this first week of retirement other than some laundry and sweeping. I need to vacuum but I am afraid the poor new dog will have a heart attack if I turn it on.
The Q lineup is boring as usual, I see. I will say, I am considering a second pair of Vionic Tide sandals. I bought a pair when it was the TSV, and right now, they are the only pair of shoes I can wear thanks to a bone spur in my heel.
You outdo yourself each week with your weekend lineup. The pics of the dogs in the pool reminds me I need to get a kiddie pool for the new dog.

@Spurt the good news is that THIS weekend, the weather is supposed to be wonderful. 80 degrees and low humidity! After the hot hot hot humid humid humid weather of the past week, that will be a nice break. I'll douse myself with bug spray and see what I can do with dealing with the green mass that is overgrowing my yard.
Love the photos but not the programming. I stopped buying Philosophy a while ago since it stopped living up to my expectations and well I can't find myself all that interested in Apple or any other tech stuff. Just me but that's how I feel.
Thanks for the preview, I laugh every time I read it.
Take care and have a great weekend, everyone.

I was just thinking about you...............
CONGRATULATIONS!!
I am so glad you persevered and made it---YAY!!!! No more stressing over all that work!!! Just sit back relax and take it all in ---ENJOY!!
WOW-thats great that you got 2 tickets to the World Equestrian Games and that sounds like a wonderful trip!!!!! And you dont have to worry about going back to work when you get back either!
From what I hear you will be busier than ever!!! Awwww how sweet that you gave that little black lab a caring and loving home.... Give her time and she will adjust to her new surroundings..... When my sister rescued her cat he was terrified of everything and she put his food and water bowl by her stainless steel refrigerator and the cat saw his reflection and he was scared to death and wouldn't eat because of
"the other cat"......Now he runs her house and he's in charge!!! What's the puppies name? And another addition ---a yellow lab too---You are going to have your hands full..... I am a bit partial to Labs and Goldens....
I have been doing well, thanks for asking....Just trying to survive the heat that we've had since May---we've been above normal and breaking records.....We FINALLY got some rain on the 4th of July---it ruined the festivities but we needed it so....and have had a few more showers off and on....but its do to end after this weekend..and then the heat will return....
Don't often go to the mall that's not enclosed---its too darn hot in the summer, but my sister had something to return and what was next door to the boutique clothing store, but a store you mentioned....SurLaTable....so we went in and enjoyed looking around.....I bought a coulple of kitchen gadgets and a cute kitchen towel and pot holder that had cats on it....So much better than what they have now on In The Kitchen With David---I think they show mostly prepared food now and the only kitchen gadgets they show are the food chopper, the spurtle, and the knife sharpener...
Sorry to hear about your bone spur, glad that the Vionic sandals help!!!
Get those dogs that kiddie pool....my sister had a cat that loved the water and she bought her a pool and that cat enjoyed it....poor kitty passed away about 3 years ago...
Take care of yourself KATIE and enjoy your RETIREMENT!!

Great to hear that your heatwave has subsided...watch out for mosquitoes and wasps while you take care of your yard.....
Glad you liked the critter preview! Another boring weekend from the Q--Since Coty bought out Philosophy everyone complains that it's just not the same.....
Take Care!
Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks for the congrats! A professor asked what I was going to do the first week and I said stay in my pajamas, and she said you can't take care of horses in pajamas, and I said, wanna bet?!But, I did change out of pajamas this week.
So, the new dog is Jazmin, and I call her Miss Jazzy. She is a small lab, smallest I have ever had and she makes Mr. Puff look even bigger. The yellow is named Pat, but that might have to change because my thesis advisor's name was Pat and I don't want to think about her every time I call the dog!I will see what her registered name is. Maybe I can come up with something that sounds like Pat. I adopted a lab who had been a stray and she had an old PetSmart rabies tag. Found out her name was, of all things, Zella, so I changed it to Belle, sounded like her old name but was new for a new life.
Hot as blazes here, too, and the rain seems to be going around me, dry as a bone. But good for cutting hay. Put my order in for August delivery.
Love Sur la Table, looking at the gadgets. You are right about ITKWD, I think last Sunday his entire show was food. The shows are too heavy in food any more, and I am not interested in the seriously overpriced offerings.
Stay cool!

You always pick such cute names for your pets......BTW so how is Mr.Puff adapting to the new members of the family?
07-10-2018 01:08 AM
Mr. Puff is adapting fine after the initial introductions. He was a bit pushy, not aggressive, just pushy which was a bit overwhelming to them because he is so big. And Jazmin makes him look even bigger. He is my biggest lab ever and she is my smallest. Now, Gidget, the little terrier, had her nose out of joint for a while. Let's just say, if looks could kill....but I reassured her that she was still my favorite. Anyway, for now I am calling the yellow Miss Pattycake. And she is SO sweet, calm, quiet, laid back and Jazmin is bit of a wild child.
