@stevieb  Hey STEVIE----POLLY here!!!

As for college mascots it can be a tad confusing .......kinda like Alabama with the Crimson Tide, yet their mascot is an elephant---say what????  So I hope they sort it all out with your Virginia Cavaliers and their official and unofficial mascots and all...LOL!!!   And as cute as the horned frog is, they have a nasty habit of defending themselves by squirting blood out of their eyes....YUUUCK!!!!  So what happened in the CWS?

Our weather morons mentioned that some nasty storms came your way, but of course didn't elaborate, instead they spend half the forecast reliving what our weather was the previous 6 hours.....as we already know, they have a problem predicting FUTURE forecasts so I understand the emphasis on what has already passed!!!  Anyway, hope your didn't get hit hard by the weather and you and Nick are safe and sound!!!!

Sounds like you had a busy weekend. Glad at least you got some pool time in Saturday & Sunday---and yes, I concur, the heat will certainly zap your strength---a neighbor and I went walking in a green belt a little way from our homes near dusk and we came back absolutely DRENCHED in sweat!!!! My DS said we should have gone in the morning, but an early morning  walk in the heat and humidity would have left me totally drained for the entire day!!!! At least at dusk you came home take a nice refreshing shower and relax for the rest of your evening.....and isn't Sunday evening TV dreadful....I will be so happy when football is back!!!! Speaking of which---I see you also caught Tommy looking spiffy in his suit ready to begin the re-investigation of Deflate Gate.Cat Tongue...I mean come on why didn't you cooperate during the initial investigation, and if your guilty fess up!!!---now sports news will be DOMINATED by this story and nothing else!!!!---"Thanks" Tommy!!! Cat Sad

As for your dresser, well keep checking back you never know, maybe they will have something even better and ON SALE too!!! Smiley Happy

I did take a peek at that new DY site the people seem okay, but the format seems a bit primitive (didn't register) and as for PTV....something about the atmosphere not to my taste....so not sure yet what I will do with this "brave new world" Smiley Wink

Oh I just got a lovely pop up from the Q inviting me to get emails on CIJ and all the wonderful merchandise that they have in store---toys, decor, Temp-Tations, VPH----I'm sure all our favorites will be in attendance!!! (Putting on my Pollyanna smile)....."It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day in the neighborhood....." May sparkles and sunshine head your way.......Cat Wink

Have a good week!

Hey Spurt...  @Spurt  Yea, the team's nicknames can get sort of strange...  but never more so than with the pros, where there for a while the tendency seemed to be toward not picking 'things' at all...  But the announcers did eventually pick up on the double nick for my boys... and really, it's fine either way, especially given the outcome...

And you've got to admit, this is a pretty cool (football) mascot...

Too bad the team isn't better...

Sort of an interesting week here...  The weather's been changeable and hot for most of the week, a few cooler (but not cool) evenings and today wasn't so bad, but our weather is very strange.  It was dreary most of the day here, and my mom, not ten miles away, had a bit more sun...  And yes, they're very, very good at being able to tell you what it's done...  Not so much about what it's going to do...

Yep, Mister Brady cleans up really nicely...  As for the saga, I'll just be glad when it's over and hopefully everybody just moves on...  I get it that right is right and wrong is wrong, but really, this should not have been as big a deal, by comparison to other NFL faux pas, as some folks have opted to make it...  I've never been a big Kornheiser fan but his commentary recently on ESPN lambasting the commish was right on...  But you're in luck...  Brady didn't dominate the sporting news for the last few days... the NBA draft did and fan or not, I cannot imagine anything less scintillating that watching that... well, other maybe than trying to watch QVC...

Smiley Very Happy

I've checked out one of the alternative sites, but I'm not going there... I don't even know what the other one is...  To the extent that I keep posting, I guess I'll just stick around here...  That said, I do see it winding down a bit...  The new boards aside, my interest in the Q is just gone and all aspects of it...  I guess it's always subject to change, but, well, like I said, I do see it winding down for me...  And yes, I got the CIJ 'invitation' too...  I "X'ed" out of it pretty quickly...    I did note on the cover of the current "Q magazine" they've featured a semi-glammmed up Marm standing next to a Lisa-esque tree...  All I could think was 'uh uh... ain't gonna fly'...

@stevieb  HEY STEVIE....Sorry I missed this earlier post, just another hiccup with this new format.     .I do like mascots involving horses---and that horse is a beauty! And  yes, I concur, it is a nice mascot!!!!  In football, when the team scores a TD, does the horse ride around the stadium in celebration like the Denver Broncos?

Speaking of mascots....no one does it WORSE than the NBA!!!!---They move teams around yet keep mascots that no longer apply---How many lakes in LA?  Or is Jazz really that prevelant in Utah?....and then when New Orleans has a chance to change it's mascot what do they pick...PELICANS????????.....PELICANS????....That is almost as bad as the Barneyesque (remember the purple dino) that Toronto has but in red.....At least the NFL has a nice variety of FELINE mascots--Cat Very Happy-Michael Jordan did away with the only NBA variety and went back to the Hornets thinking it woud lead to winning ways---didn't work.

As for the NBA draft---due to their success, my Spurs were near the very end of the first round,  and even for me, the NBA variety of the draft is not riveting entertainment---I had it on in the background to see who the Spurs would pick, typical for us, we picked a player from Serbia that will continue to develop in international leagues and we won't see him for several years----I didn't even bother to watch the second round normally we trade it away.......But at least it was an escape from hearing about Deflate Gate---Oh yes Kornheiser, he doesn't like my Spurs and in particular Coach Pop, well at least Wilbon has good tastes and is kind to my Spurs.....but it's fun to hear what Kornheiser has to say about your local teams...especially the burgundy & gold. Smiley Wink and I agree with him about the NFL commish---why did Taglibue ever leave..........

That is strange phenomenon about the weather---one part will be sunny and just down the road it's raining cats and dogs.... Smiley Happy

There are not too many shopping forums still in existence and the ones out there don't do anything for me, so I may stick around here, at least for a while.  Like you my interest in the Q is waning too....there used to be a time that I would look forward to the different shows and CIJ but with its stale environment---- I can certainly leave it and not miss it.....And as for the Lisa-esque tree----it's like putting a square peg in a round hole-Smiley Wink --something QVC seems to do a lot, as you can tell by what they did with their Monday Night lineup. Re: Q DID WHAT?--An Apple a day and CIAO--Weekend Preview 6/20 and 6/21

I agree, Spurt, some of the sports nicknames (especially but not limited to) the NBA just are so bad...  And yes, even in football, why is it that when a team moves sometimes they keep the name and sometimes they don't...   I've long felt, for example, that Indy should cede the 'Colts' back to Baltimore and Arizona Cardinals...?  Really...?  Oh well....

As for home shopping...  I really am pretty much done.  They're all bad.  All of the on some rare occasions have something worth watching, but overall, they're just more stale than stale and let's face it, the bottom line is the deals just aren't there...  I guess they have their place, but more and more their place isn't on my TV...  And as for the Lisa-esque tree, I was thinking more along that analogy about lipstick on a barnyard animal, but hey, why go there...
