You can’t tell by this picture. She is partially in a shadow.

Sometimes it's the lighting and/or camera.
A few years back, one of my photos taken by someone else showed my hair to be pure white.
I have long, brown hair, with strands of golden or brown-ish grey (not white-grey).
Anyway, I'm only guessing that it was the outdoor lighting / sky along with the camera setting.

p.s. Also, I recall Susan Graver's hair looking very, very blonde when she was presenting items from Idaho or maybe her home one dark evening on an outdoor patio.
I recall posting that it could be the lighting, which turned out to be true.

It could be the way the light is hitting her hair in the photo.

I truly loved her natural hair color. It complimented her skin and NOT the bleach blonde that everyone seems to want. She’s unique and so was her original color.
She hasn't worn her natural hair color for years. She has had a few different shades of brown and sometimes even highlights. At her age, (43) she certainally has gray hair.
I agree, I like her brown hair better. But, whatever, it is her choice.

@songbird wrote:It's not. I read another account and it's bottle blond. Why not? It'll make her look different. Keeping brown hair all the time is monotonous looking. She has to keep that weight down and I'm sure she works at it. She has a small waist, and this is a major feature on why she looks good in clothes.
I don't think she works to keep her weight down. She, her mother and sister are all naturally thin.
Right now, Kate could put some weight on. You can tell she is not well. She is very thin and looks tired.
I hope better days are ahead for her.

It isn't a trick of the light, although the lightening of her hair has been so subtle over time, it can be hard to tell.
All the royal watchers and royal watching publications have noted it. The most recent lightening is the most noticeable so far.
While not awful, I do prefer -- on her-- her more "light-to-medium" brunette look. Her natural brown hair looked rich with her other coloring. But, it may be a temporary, fun morale-boosting change, in her eyes, and why not?

When I would visit my son in MI, my Grandson remarked, "Granny it is always fun to see you get off the plane, I never know what color your hair will be."
