If watching QVC is a "burden, you can easily relieve yourself of it by changing the channel.

While you sometimes state things rather harshly, I do agree with you that these are sales people. And suggesting that people buy for themselves and not just for others doesn't even seem like an unusual or offensive sales tactic at all to me.

While it is another ridiculous sales tactic, I don't take it quite the same way as OP. I don't see it as being selfish by buying for yourself. We all know what the holidays are about. They just want to push more merchandise by telling us how wonderful, wonderful, amazing, amazing everything is, so buy one for yourself as well, because it's so great you won't want to give it away.

LOL, I would rather hear them say buy one for yourself than buy one for the mailman, teacher and meter reader or anyone else that has happened to cross your path during the year.

Oh Martha Martha Martha..{#emotions_dlg.laugh}..your last paragraph is so RIGHT ON THE MARK! {#emotions_dlg.lol}{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

The Q either wants everyone to be greedy or to be in debt buying for everyone on the planet.....

What...? Huh...? {#emotions_dlg.confused1} You don't buy gifts for your meter reader? Gosh, maybe I DID overspend... I bought mine a new Maserati... Do you think I should buy myself one too...?

I bought everything locally. The exception is two pairs of cute wedges I bought at Nordstrom. I don't even watch Q anymore. It's too reptitive and boring.

What a ridiculous reply.

KYToby - you said exactly what I was thinking. There are comments below against you of course, but it is these sad pathetic people who have nothing better to do than get on a message board and bash hosts and QVC. If these people are so unhappy with QVC, then they should no longer watch it and find someone else to be nasty and negative about.

Oh please, another with the sad and pathetic, and all because we've deigned to come onto a message board designed for criticisms of QVC and actually, well, post criticisms... And as for changing the channel, you'd probably find that many of us do... That doesn't mean we can't offer our opinions here, the place specifically designed for us to do so... And just think, now you and KY have something in common, aside from your points of view, because it seems odd that one would bash bashing and then turn right around and, well, bash others... So now there's a negative comment about you too... Happiest of holidays...

Well, if they are trying to sell you poo-pouri, you better buy if for yourself rather than for your family members/friends as a gift........ Smiley Happy

I seriously do not think I have dealt with One B&M sales associate, this Season, that did not pitch some variation of this. "Alright, now what can we get you, what are you buying to treat you, what's on your list, for you, now? I didn't realize I should have gone off on them :-) Seriously, about 20 years back, I helped fund my college education, working in high end sales. At that level, believe me, you get sales technique indoctrination! I don't find this offensive or obnoxious, just sales. I suppose it helps, too, that I don't have time to watch much live programming, when it comes to home shopping. An occasional viewer, I don't get that irritated:-)

I would rather they tell me to buy myself a Dooney than try to tell me to buy my children's teacher a Dooney, or my mailman, or trash collector, or on and on and on....I mean REALLY? Who does that? And please do not say "if I had the money I would get my teacher, mailman, trash collector a Dooney", cause, really? NO you wouldn"t,
