I'm with you, OP.  When I return something, I feel the same.  Shipping is added when we purchase and it's subtracted when we return something.  It seems like we pay it twice.   It's Q's policy and it's not a crime so they can do it.  But I always look elsewhere before buying from Q as many place offer free shipping and returns.

I rarely use Q's return label because most of what I buy can be returned in one of the many sizes of flat rate priority mail envelope for a little less or the same cost as the label. And it gets to Q faster with much better tracking.

coconut1818:  I NEVER used to use their label because it was cheaper to send on my own but the last couple of times I returned something on my own, it actually cost me more.  SO, this time I used their label.....

@blackhole99, this is one of the reasons I don’t generally jump on the TSV or OTO, especially if it’s a new item.  I’d be less reluctant IF sizing was consistent within and between brands and I got a better feel for the hand of the fabric from the presentation/website.

Shoppers actually have a lot to lose if you buy what you think is your size and it doesn’t fit when you get it.  AND, I don’t fall for free exchanges either.  If so many items are One Order Only, there is little chance you’ll get your exchange and still be out the return ship charge.  It’s a WIN-WIN FOR QVC.

@MJDinVegas - Actually, if you use the Q return label for an exchange request and the size/color/non-defective item you are trying to exchange for is not available, you get a complete refund of your entire purchase price including ALL shipping costs; it's as if you never made the purchase in the first place. This has happened to me twice, and even though I was a bit disappointed to not get the item, I appreciated the refund policy.

@Big Sister

oh you had to remind me!!! I end up keeping things under $20 because the shipping & return fees sometimes is almost as much as the item!

I take them to comm yard sale & basically giveit away...another reason i stopped "impulse" buying!!!

I use QVC's garment sizing exclusively and have found them off (enough to make a decided difference) several times.  Because of this, it's rare I buy clothing but I do so very carefully on occasion.  I never buy shoes anymore because for some reason my very average, no problem size 9M's are exceedingly difficult for QVC to fit.... and refuse to return even one more pair.  I no longer buy any food items anymore even tho there are no shipping costs because I am so tired of complaining about the quality for the money (whether I call the Q or not).  My last food purchase was a $70 Ham.  Packaging obscured how the  meat looked untl I unwrapped it.... bone huge, twice as big as normal and the fat to meat ratio was awful.  So little meat that I l had to go out and buy a ham at the supermarket to feed all my guests (for half what the Q charged.)  I was so angry/disappointed that I called CS.  They refunded my purchased but only after insinuating that I was complaining in order to get a refund!!!

That was it for me.  No sale unless I'm very sure it's a keeper.  Please don't get me wrong, I still love QVC and have had many positive and wonderful experiences with CS most of whom have been terrific.... but I no longer want to return anything or play the "get it home and decide" game.....

And life has been so much better without the returns..... Woman LOL

Are you using the click here measurements for the actual garment size.  I use them exclusively and don't have sizing issues.

@GCR18

The problem is that sometimes the CLICK HERE measurements are not always there (only the general guide)....AND in some cases I have found that the CLICK HERE measurements are not always accurate if they are there.... I had ordered a top that was supposed to be 29 inches....and it looked awfully short when I received it and when I measured it, the actual measurement was 25 1/2.....Woman Frustrated

...I buy clothing mostly from local stores now!!! QVC has lost my trust!!!  And what am I going to exchange when the size below is too small, and the size above is too big!

@Spurt .If there are no click here measurements, I don't buy.  I haven't come across items not matching the garment measurements.  If I return, it's because it's one of those what where you thinking moments.  Luckily, I don't do that often. LOL

No matter what the garment measurements state, it's still quite possible to receive the wrong size, here's why.

 My S-I-L worked at a factory that made womens' clothing.  If there was an order for 500 blouses in an array of sizes, and the buyer called for 150 in a size medium, sometimes there wouldn't be enough to make that amount in that size.  So, they would make up the discrepancy by sewing a medium size tag on garments that were different sizes.  This is why if's important to try a garment on before purchasing.

Same thing for shoes.  Earlier this summer I wanted a new pair of Skecher sneakers.  Fortunately, we have an outlet  shopping ctr. in our town and a Skecher store!   I tried on lots of shoes in my usual size, some fit, others didn't.   I could never order shoes without trying them on.

I think I already know the responses that I'm leaving myself open to with this post, but please spare me (anything but the money it cost) and allow this rant without an attack.

I ordered a shirt from QVC on easy pay.  The first installment was $11.31.  I returned it, used their return label and was aware they would deduct $6.95 for s&h as well as $2.99 for the original s&h to send it to me.  My total refund was $1.37.  Although I was wise to all of these things, I can't help feeling SO ripped off.

Due to this, I will make certain to never order anything unless it's free s&h and there is NO possibility I would return it.  Although they might like this result, I can promise you that they will loose sales from those who feel as I do about this.  All of their, "take a chance, order it, get it home and if you don't like it, send it back, you have nothing to lose" comments (hoping you will order and not bother to go to the trouble of returning it or you could end up liking it) will have ZERO effect on us.  Hence, lost sales.

In any case, this is the last time this will ever happen to me.  It cost me $9.94 to look at one of their shirts.

They really make out on returns don't they?

Smart decision....thank you for sparing us future rants!
