Nancy did seem in awe of being in Kathy's presence. To the point of it being humorous. However, when it crosses the line and is no longer professional QVC has a problem with worshiping a former host or other guest. The main reason for a host is to sell product, rather than swoon over another person.
I was uncomfortable watching the show and Kathy also may have felt ill at ease. She was not her usual bubbly self last night, but tried to cover it well.
Perhaps it would be a learning opportunity for Nancy to rewatch the program and critique herself with her QVC mentor?
The next program (two hours) Nancy showed marked improvement over past shows IMO. Nancy interacted well with the guests whom she seemed to already know and felt comfortable with. She was relaxed and comfortable with the Q-cards for product information.
I also noticed the camera crew works very closely with Nancy to avoid showing any potentially embarrasing shots. KUDOS to them for helping her. "It takes a village."
She was able to converse much better than in previous years and has dropped some annoying nervous habits (except "right?" which was in every other sentence). That poor grammar must stop! If she sits down and counts how many times she asks, "Right?" or speaks to "Fran" rather than her audience, I'm confident she will realize how discombobulated her delivery becomes. Customers need to hear about the products, not her uncertainty of the items or her constant chatter with "Fran" (who is not her customer base).
I do think Nancy will find her comfort level eventually, but we've been waiting for how many years for her level of expertise to pique? Two? Maybe more. IDK. She trained with Stacy and Steve, both of whom have easily made their niches on QVC as talented, well-respected hosts with their own shows in areas of their interests.
Perhaps Nancy has something the public is unaware of which requires special consideration and QVC is giving her the benefit of the doubt.
She seems like a sweet person who means well. I do feel she's trying and I also think most of the other hosts have been doing everything humanly possible to help her "learn the ropes" of QVC's hosting responsibilities. That speaks volumes about everyone on the QVC team and their desire to see Nancy succeed.
I plan to continue watching to see her improve. Hopefully, others will join me.
