Re: Please fire whomever is responsible for automatic video

If all else fails, turns your device volume off and use the 'closed captioning' instead.

That's what I always do early in the morning when DH is still sleeping.

Re: Please fire whomever is responsible for automatic video

my iPad is updated and has not gone "completely bonkers" plus I still see the option to uncheck the play automatically box.

There are many reasons for Apple to updated the iOS, which most importantly include security updates.  Not having to worry about having additional security on a device is very valuable.

The reason some users' settings change with an update usually has to do with not updated the settings in the first place to customize your views, etc.

I sm using an iPad and don't see the box for stopping video either. I know how to use the boards. This is annoying. Nobody needs your snarky response to an honest question.

@Cwoldie You don't think fire somebody is snarky?  Maybe it's just mean. . .

I also don't have an option to uncheck the video from playing automatically.   And the weird thing is that it starts playing when I click on a still photo of the item.  And I use an iPad too.

Yes, it can be stopped or muted.  But you have to do that each time you look at a new item.  That's annoying.  I normally do not want to watch the videos.  And if I do, I can click on them myself.

@geezerette

On my laptop, only the first item I check on has the 'Play video automatically' is a default.

Once I uncheck that option the first time, I don't have to click it after that. all future items do not automatically start playing the video.

I never comment on here, but the video that intrudes loudly whenever you click on an item HAS GOT TO GO!  Extremely annoying, esp. when you are multi- tasking or partner is sleeping.  Really I can think of NO scenario in which this would be welcomed.

I don't have that option.

I don't have the option to uncheck either and I am very tech savvy, I am a content creator. I agree it's unnecessary to have the videos play. Muting my volume should be unnecessary. When you were in the business to sell your site be user-friendly.

Re: Please fire whomever is responsible for automatic video

In all fairness, I can see the unclick play video automatically (which is the default and shouldn't be!) but you have to be very fast or the video just starts rolling along. Yes then you have to pause the video and uncheck that box. Then for the time I've signed in it will remain unchecked for all items looked at so thats good but then I have to do it over again when signing in again!

So you see, despite what a moderator also suggested a few days ago about the "simple" solution to uncheck, it does involve some hurried or multiple steps.

And as some said, they can't even see the box to uncheck.

So long story not short-it is annoying!

But I suspect, QVC thinks it will enhance sales whereas a lot of times it doesn't. I sometimes just give up.

It is so refreshing when other retailers online do not do this!

Re: Please fire whomever is responsible for automatic video

I frequently see posters complaining about not seeing reviews. Where have they gone?  And can't get rid of the videos . It most often turns out that they are using a mobile phone or an iPad. I use a MacBook and I never have these problems. A few years ago my husband gave me an iPad. I could never get use it. it has been sitting on a book case for ages. Now I know it's not just me.
