Re: Please Stop Using The Word "SICK" To Describe An Item

I remember years ago Lisa R used to call everything  " Da Bomb " when she liked it.

it was way after that phrase was no longer " hip " .   I used to get a laugh out of that.

Re: Please Stop Using The Word "SICK" To Describe An Item

I think using the word “Sick” as a positive is a good thing. 🤗

Reason why...

If you are truly sick that word weighs You down and consumes You.

Using it as a positive would help uplift you and not give it so much power.

For example the word “Wicked” is used freely in the Boston area. You will even see all sorts of merchandise in stores there with the word Wicked written all over them.

It’s just turning a negative word into a positive word, so that it becomes a compliment instead. 🤗🤗🤗

@RescueLover I agree!  I was just watching something on YT and the guy said "sick" saying how good the product was that he was talking about.  I hear it all the time and never took it in a negative way.  Watching The Voice one judge would say "that's dope" meaning it was really good.

Oh, yes!

'Stinking cute',  and 'Sick' are my pet peeves.

I was trying to think of my pet peeves for another thread, and here they are!

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Doesn't bother me one way or the other.

Give it a week and hosts will use another word until you scream.

I don't listen that close to hosts and I don't watch when they start in on their antics and stories.

@Jk9 I mean, with all the other words known to us in the English language, why use that particular word?  I'm just happy no one pounced on me and that I didn't get poofed for saying it.  Have a great day!

Shawn has been using that word since her stepson was a teen and picked it up from him.
It would be the same if I used the word Gnarly or tubular from the early 80's growing up and still living in California.
Lucky for me my language evolved.
For Shawn she is stuck in some decades still.

When I was in high school in the late 70's and early 80's the popular word was "bad".  If something was good it was called "bad".  Like using sick today to describe something good.  Every generation has their opposite meaning word but eventually most people grow out of using the word.

Life is too short to get worked up about words used by hosts. You can't do anything about it. Let it go. Relax.
