Philadelphia Shocker

[ Edited ]

Popular Good Day Philadelphia anchor Mike Jerrick, age 73, just announced he is leaving his job and going to QVC as a gardening host.

He can't start for six months because of contract issues.

Is this an April Fools Day joke? (Probably.)

I remember seeing him  hosting one of those lifestyle shows years ago.  Best of luck to him with his new job, if it is for real.

Maybe he is partnering with Carolyn!

That is a shocker!  He seems comes off on TV as a nice guy, friendly and affable.  If he really is going to QVC, he should do well.

Mike pulls an April fools every year, doubt he's leaving Fox.

I might believe it except for one thing.  No one brings in a big gun for gardening in the Fall.

I'm not buying it.  Good Day Philadelphia always pulls April Fools pranks.  They aren't usually funny, just stupid, much like this one.

Plus, the way his co-hosts reacted seemed fake.

Nope. Not buying it at all - he's a prankster although it was pretty convincing!!

However, I can see someone at 73 wanting a job that doesn't require getting to work at 3:00 am. Fox to QVC would probably be a salary cut, but Mike is undoubtedly financially comfortable.

Also Fox has been requiring longer on-air hours of its talent which could be a factor.

Good points but, on the other hand, he lives close by to his work now.  He'd have to buy a car and drive to QVC studios.
