Re: Past unique shopping from Q........

I loved the collector's days with Fenton glass, english cottages, capodimonte, dolls, crystal, Boyd's bears. Irish days included so much more than sweaters. Small company crafts too. Variety is missing.

Remember Mary Beth with the dolls?  Marie Osmond too.
How about Phyllis Diller on HSN selling the very first skincare item on TV shopping!!!

Anne Jeffries was one of the first on HSN to offer skincare as well.

DVF on QVC: Surroundings!!
Whatever happened to Catherine Zeta Jones on QVC???

@frenchie I thought the same thing but most younger people are no longer collectors like back in the day. Older folks can't give their collectibles away.  Kids don't want them and their value as decreased tremendously.  When the world rights itself things will be different again. Can you imagine what will be discovered squirreled away for future generations?

Re: Past unique shopping from Q........

Last year QVC and HSN repurposed the 50 in 50 idea with the Next Big Idea campaign.  Small businesses throughout the country were spotlighted  during ITKWD.

I missed the Birkenstok shows but they never offered deals - I can find Birks elsewhere but now some are back on the Q

The other items suggested do not appear to be big sellers IMO so why spend time and money buy and resell.  Collectables are really out of favor in general.  I can't imagine filling my house with items to sit around and collect dust.  QVC has moved to much more useful items IMO.

Re: Past unique shopping from Q........

You are so right about the variety of vendors and shows of years gone by.  I enjoyed shopping and looked forward to so many shows, not because of the hosts, but because of the vendors and product lines.

All things must change. I look forward to the rebranding of QVC and I hope they succeed in whatever direction they feel the need to go.  In the meantime, I am rediscovering old friends such as Lands End, Talbots, Nordstrom's, The Company Store.

Re: Past unique shopping from Q........

I think we are just spinning our wheels by just posting on these boards what we think is wrong with QVC and what products we'd like to see.

In my opinion, I think physical letters, like in ink and paper (typewriter or computer printer or handwritten), sent through the mail, addressed to the President and CEO, would get their attention much more than just posting repeatedly on these forums.

It's alot more effort than posting here or sending emails, but I think somebody in Corporate Headquarters would read them, and perhaps get their attention.

Probably a dumb idea....
