Re: Pandemic article about Qurate, QVC, and HSN

[ Edited ]

Mike George sensed that the COVID-19 pandemic was coming.

During the week of March 12, the company began pulling its tens of thousands of employees out of offices in the U.S. and abroad, said George...

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the novel coronavirus a pandemic on March 11, 2020, after the initial outbreak over two months prior. Who do they think they're fooling?

...[T]he customer actually loved it. She loved the intimacy.

Shouldn't Qurate be trying to gain more customers during this pandemic? The way to do that is not with exclusionary language, ie. "she."

Even before the pandemic, the networks aimed to build consumer confidence with purchases by describing products thoroughly on-air, imposing quality standards for the products it sells and implementing common sizing standards for apparel items. By doing so upfront, it aims to reduce the likelihood of needing to return a product in the first place, George said.

That sounds great? When does that start? Customers on this forum and in the product reviews are still having problems with size and quality inconsistency.

...the networks will likely focus on offering products that suit the needs of consumers working from home for the long term...

Wait, what is this month called again? Beauty Month? The fourth Beauty Month of the year, I might add.

...the channels will likely need to draw consumers through featuring certain celebrities, promotions and product categories in the future...

Yeah, the product category called "Not Vacuums."

QVC is doing what every business has been doing to survive.  Too bad China sent planes full of infected humans around the world when they knew the virus was deadly.

Re: Pandemic article about Qurate, QVC, and HSN

I often wonder where Macys(and others) would be if they would have adapted to streaming sales to complement B&M stores.

The same for adapting to on line sales. Now that Walmart is introducting Walmart+ to finally go into the Amazon space.

Adaptors will survive.
