Hi KS, it's absolutely lovely here right now, but I see the heat and chance of storms return next week. Two of the reasons I dislike summer. People crack me up. They go on and on about how they LOVE summer, 'but not when it's like this'. Well, THIS is summer in this region! I mean, what don't they get? I think many of us love the idea of summer, hearkening back to summer vacation, getting out of school and wearing shorts. The reality all too often pales...

Interesting thread over in beauty on why said hair care product is so popular. Some, yours truly included, have deigned to question whether it actually is... It's well known among Q viewers (how could it not be) and among 'the faithful' but otherwise, there seem to be more than a few folks who wonder if the general population has even heard of it... Also interesting that a distinction appears to have been drawn between those who use it because they like it as a hair care tool and those who are simply zealots, either for the product, it's creator, or both... And yes, I think there are more than a handful of us who are glad to have seen the end of the gallons, NOT, it would seem, that QVC is now intent on filling those endless hours with anything much more interesting...

It is gorgeous here today, too. Nice breeze, lower humidity, and not quite so hot. Made for a much more pleasant riding lesson. I like the summer from the standpoint of longer days because by the time I get home from work in the winter, I am feeding my horses in the dark. I also like wearing sandals or going barefoot in the summer- I know this is weird but I feel like my feet can't breathe with socks and shoes on.{#emotions_dlg.laugh} And I don't have keep up with coats, gloves, etc. But, like you, I don't like the afternoon storms that pop up, I have a 13 yr old Golden retriever mix who has decided he is afraid of storms and got into my dining room and knocked over furniture to get into a corner. So, he is now on melatonin to see if that helps. And I am always hoping my horses have sense enough to go in the barn - I have a friend whose horse was killed by lightning, and it knocked two of her other horses to the ground.

I think, regarding the hair care products whose name shall not be used, they are either zealots for the product which translates to obsession with the creator, or vice versa. I was stunned by the reaction when said person's dog died. One person created a web site! Now, I am sorry when someone's pet dies, and my most favorite dog is the female black Lab, but they were crazy!

And I think the hours that were taken up by the hair care product in June are now being filled by Dyson as I think July is Dyson month. OUCH!{#emotions_dlg.w00t}

Hey KS......

I don't mind a nice rainstorm, and God knows we need some here, just not the severe kind....

So sad about your friend's horses......

I have a special place in my heart for Goldens, a friend has some, they are the sweetest things...I hope the meds help your dog.....have you tried the thunder shirt....some folks swear by them....they sell them at petsmart....they have them for cats too...(I thought about getting one for my kitties when I take them to the vet for their shots or checkups---they HATE riding in the car)....

I hear what your saying about summer and wearing shorts and sandals and being free (although QVC seems to promote bulking up with scarves and layering in the HOT months) {#emotions_dlg.laugh}...but sometimes I like a cozy sweater on a cold day---emphasis on COLD....{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

As for "those folks" if you like a product you want to tell others about it.....but then there are EXTREMES.....{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} Like I said before, they are more fanatical than even sports fans..{#emotions_dlg.laugh}.....BTW dont tell my buddy Teganslaw that YOUR Clowney is looking forward to sacking her Andrew Luck....Wink

I won't tell Teganslaw about Jadeveon, but it has been on the news so she might have seen it. Look out! He might get his helmet knocked off!{#emotions_dlg.devil2}

Well batten down the hatches because they just sent out an email about the upcoming Kitchenaid blender TSV... Honestly, they must think we all sit around the kitchen island blending day in and day out... I have a blender... somewhere... which says a lot about how often I use it...

I have a blender, too, at the back of the bottom cabinet. It was my father's and he has been dead for over 30 years. Never use it. But I hang on to it because it was his, still works, and was made in the US when small appliances were still made here.

Hey Katie....I have my mom's blender on the top shelf of my pantry....she passed away 26 years ago and I kept it for the same reason sentimental value and because things were made a heck of a lot better back then.

Yep we sit around and spend all of our time blending and blending and blending up all these "mysterious" concoctions like some mad scientists....{#emotions_dlg.laugh} I am anxiously waiting for the Q to comeup with a Bliss Light version with morphing colors as you blend....OR.....diamonque bling version ....

The verdict is still out on my Eureka.... First of all I had to put half of it together before I could even use it..and that was a "joy".{#emotions_dlg.glare} and it's as heavy as heck much as I heard Dyson is ..... it does have good suction though....and lots of on board tools....I dont know maybe I should take it back and get a Shark......

And as for the "exorcism"......reminds me of an old Elvis song that fits....{#emotions_dlg.devil2}{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Re: PAGING STEVIE AND KATIES SCARLET........

Think about it Spurt while still an option. My Dyson (not bought at Q, incidentally) is a great machine, but it IS heavy. The Shark has great suction, a lot of tools and is very light. The only things I don't like about it are that the handle is a bit thick and because of the stick configuration, it doesn't stand on its own. That said, I like it quite a bit and there ARE other Shark models that are more like traditional upright vacs that are still lighter, to me anyway, than my Dyson...

I'm thinking about it.....That would be a problem with the Shark if it doesn't stand on its own.....especially when I was using the tools, or I had to stop to pick up a cat toy or something....and Im not fond of that "lift away" Shark model either.....Guess I will need to check out other Shark Uprights....

Re: PAGING STEVIE AND KATIES SCARLET........

I sort of wish I'd have given the uprights another look before ordering. I'm pleased with this machine, but the not standing up is a bit of an inconvenience and the canister usually needs emptying more than once per use. It's so lightweight and very easy to navigate around things, but the top heavy nature is sometimes a challenge. What I've learned to do though, is to pick everything up off the floor before I start. It's a good little machine and I don't think a regular upright would have been as easy to fit into nooks and crannies, but do take a good look around at the (many) options before you return and repurchase, should you opt to go that route.

Re: PAGING STEVIE AND KATIES SCARLET........

Good news that Hurricane Arthur wasn't as bad as predicted. I experienced a hurricane when I lived in Houston; it was something I'd rather not go through again. We lost power and water for three days, but otherwise we were OK.

Lucky is scared of thunder and fireworks. He hid in the closet during the 4th. It's strange how animals are affected differently by the holiday. After awhile I get tired of all the noise.

I had no idea what a potsticker was; had to look it up on the internet. I don't cook much, so these kitchen items--like Vitamax-- wouldn't interest me in the least.

I know all about Clowney 's "trash talk." It doesn't bother me when he talks about tackling Luck; it's his job and what he's been drafted for. I'm concerned whether the Colts O Line can protect Luck. They haven't done it very well at times. Houston should be an interesting team to play. I think that they'll be much improved from last season.

I always try to do a good scan and pick up things before I start to vacuum, but there is always a cat toy that the kitties have "hidden" that seem to pop up from time to time that I missed with my scan.....{#emotions_dlg.laugh} The reason I chose the Eureka model I did was because of all the tools it had. I wanted something to reach to clean-- cobwebs, top of the curtains, cat hair on the furniture, and the nooks and crannies that the regular vacuum misses---the one I decided to replace does not have any tools and I have to use various other cleaning apparatuses to get the job done---so tools on board is a real time saver.....The Eureka also has a large container that I only needed to empty once. I will just have to look around....I think Target and Bed Bath And Beyond had a good selection of Sharks....I REFUSE to go to Wally World....although I may be forced to in order to comparison shop....maybe if I mention moms name I will get a discount there.....(good riddance to bad garbage sort of discount) {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Hey Tegan......

Oh poor Lucky and thunderstorms and fireworks---my DS's cat runs around the house at full speed like she's possessed whenever she hears fireworks....The 4th of July Celebrations are over, so the poor frightened animals get a reprieve. Most of the fireworks noise here is before and after New Years where people buy illegal fireworks and pop them for weeks on end....it becomes downright annoying....

I used to have a tuxedo cat named Opie and she was a true WEATHER CAT.....more accurate than the meteorologist ---when it was a "normal" rainstorm she would be calm....but if she sensed one more severe---even before it hit----she would run behind the toilet and scream and cry. I would take precautionary measures---getting flashlights and flameless candles ready because I know it would be a bad storm with hail and lots of lightning and thunder and sometimes a tornado warning or watch---The TV Stations should have hired her....{#emotions_dlg.laugh} She lived a long and happy life---she was 23 when she passed away---

NFL Training camp will be in a couple of weeks{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}---I see the Colts are highly rated and Andrew was a possible MVP candidate. (I'm jealous) Wink. Good luck to your Colts. I see your coach has written a book and see him supporting the Jimmy V foundation.

My Redskins play the Texans in Houston and Im going to the game so I get to see Clowney close up....it will be interesting how our defense fairs against BOTH JJ Watt and Clowney and the rest of the Texan's defense. The Texan's big question mark is their QB---and they have a new coach too, and I know our defense has changed their scheme and Brian Rakpo is healthy as is Ryan Kerrigan ....it should be a good game... I can't wait!
