Original package previously opened

Just receved the Attitudes by Ranee maxi dress, and the orginal package the dress came in, is already opened.  I couldnt even try it on, because the idea that someone else had, and the QVC folks hadnt even put it in a new package.makes me upset. Has this been happening a lot lately?

@Evansmimi

That dress was a new item.  I highly doubt that it was already a returned item.

You can tell by the label.  Long rectangle label means brand new.

Square smaller print label means it was returned.

ALL returned items have to be repackaged.  Each label has order info encoded particular to each sale.

Your theory that QVC didn't put it in a new package is highly unlikely.

I have received tons of returned items.  No big deal.

When you try on things in a store, how do you know that someone else didn't just have it on their body earlier?

Just wash it and then try it on.

@Evansmimi ..........probably a lot of clothing items you have tried on and bought in a store have been tried on and/or returned.  No different.

So in your opinion the plastic bag the dress came in was torn open in the warehouse?

I have had this happen with 2 purchases from this line. I ordered both as new.  The first arrived smelling like cigarette smoke and perfume.  The other was rolled in a ball in the clear plastic bag and clearly had a return sticker on the left hand side tag inside the garment. I returned both full a full refund + postage.

Its possible the package was delivered to the wrong person who decided to try it on, didn't like it so sent it on its journey.  I received and accidentally open a Q package addressed to another person once.

What I don't understand is why you automatically rejected it just because the package wasn't sealed.  Do you find clothes in stores in sealed packages untried and untouched? Many people wash clothing before trying it on.

There is no real way to know.  It could have never been sealed in the first place at the factory.

It could have become stuck to the packaging or anoher one as it was taken out of the bin...it could have a lot of things.

I'm saying if you have a rectangle label, it was probably a new item.  The item number (plus other info) is very bold at the bottom.

When an item is returned and resold, you can clearly tell by the square, totally different type label.  QVC is not going to throw away a garment just because it is returned.  NO retailer does that.

I ordered two of those dresses and haven't even received them yet.  Since it was a new listed item, hardly time for someone to return it and get it back to you.

Either way, it is a mute point.  If you don't want it, send it back!

I'm sorry, I guess I didn't make myself clear, it wasnt the mailing package,it was the clear plastic bag the dress came in, and it was  torn open not just unsealed. Thanks to evryone who voiced an opinion.

Re: Original package previously opened

I understand your concern. One of the perks of shopping at QVC is purchasing clothing that we're the first to try it on! The hosts often mention how great it is to order from home, have clothing delivered to our door to try on AT HOME (without the worry of how long the garment has been hanging in the store and how many people have touched it), and the ease of returns. When I shop brick and mortar I'm well aware it's totally different from ordering from TV or shopping online.
I've never received anything with the inner bag open. I'm not sure what I would do if I did. But your package delivery certainly didn't live up to the QVC promise!
