“Going down the shore” is a NJ phrase. Lol.

@KKlim.  It's  just as widely used in SE Pennsylvania too.

In the summer, I'm always "going down the shore".  Been "going down the shore" all my life.  That's the way we say it.

Yep!

Nothing like the Jersey Shore, or any shore for that matter! Smiley Happy

Oh I agree -

Every time I hear things like, 'Imma gonna have this', 'It beez that way', 'You heard me?', and similar hogwash, I stop listening!

LOL

Lots of people say these things, but I've never heard anyone of QVC talk like this!  LOL. Not a fan of this kind of speech myself.

My hubby is from NJ, he and his siblings always reminisce and talk about 'going down the shore' as kids at first I thought that sounds so odd but not any different and strange saying we used to go to the beach, I guess.

Remember, you're listening to people who consider it correct to say, "going down the shore".

I have been going down the shore my whole life, lol. If you grew up in "Jersey" that is all you ever heard.! I'm a senior and I still go down the shore, haha!  After you tell someone in NJ  you are going down the the shore, the person will ask "which beach".

Re: Ok, I can't take it anymore.

If I heard a host say "underneath of it", it would get on my nerves, too.  Yet, I "go down the shore".

One thing that I heard a host say at least a month ago that I am having trouble forgetting is "I will have a FOOL presentation of this Barefoot Dreams POOL-over in 5 minutes".   Fool presentation cracked me up. Not being critical or mean, it just sounded strange to me because I have lived in the same region of the country my entire life and usually hear different pronunciations on TV only.  A sheltered life Hahaha.

@Catch71   I live in a beach town in New Jersey. So I am already at the shore, but I have always said "I'm going to the beach".  So I guess I am already down the shore.  I enjoy hearing all the different phrases for such things.
