Not Necessary for Host To Apologize

For having a cold and making the statement "it's not COVID"  It's beyond silly.  We can hear you are congested.  Neither has one thing to do with the other

They should have enough hosts around to cover for an ill host, but several are on vacation.

Nothing silly about it at all.  When i had Covid, I sounded like I had a cold.  Congestion is one of the symptoms.

I was making reference to her confirmation; of course she doesn't have it, or she wouldn't be there.

I think it is considerate for the host to let people know, I see nothing wrong with it.  This way people don't have to question what is wrong with the host.  I agree with the other poster who said there should be enough people to cover so no one has to come on air sick.  One of the host on JTV a couple nights ago sounded awful, I could not believe she went on air, you could tell she felt awful.

It is considerate , and pretending that covid isn't a fact of life is stupid.  Since when is it ever wrong to apologize ?

Re: Not Necessary for Host To Apologize

Masks make me cough.  I was recently at the grocery and it was crowded.  The check out lines were long.

I started to cough with my mask on lightly, so I put a cough drop in my mouth.  Then, I swallowed wrong and really started to cough.  I left my mask on and used a tissue, but the coughing got worse.  I was second in line after waiting about 10 minutes.

I was boxed in and couldn't walk away. A few people who were in line near me left and moved away.  When I got to the cashier, I apologized to her and told her I didn't have COVID.  I explained why I was coughing.  I know I was embarassed and uncomfortable and people around me were uncomfortable as well.

Anytime anyone gets a coughing spell around people, they get dirty looks.  Congestion and coughing ARE signs of COVID.  I understand why anyone would apologize for coughing and stating they do not have COVID.

Well sure enough, if the host hadn't said "it's not covid", someone would have started a thread asking if the host has covid. Sometimes you just can't win.

Considerate would be staying home when you're ill, be it cold, flu or Covid.  I think many have adopted that concept over the past two years.

One host is perfectly capable of performing the required duties for the entire program.

By saying "it's not COVID," the host is just answering the question in [most] everyone's mind.  It's okay, I think.
