I recently received a letter from QVC that effective Aug ?, I think the 14th, they will no longer be accepting checks. I know a lot of places aren't taking checks but I still like the option. QVC has made my shopping easier by implementing this because I won't buy as much.

Probably because bounced checks was nuisance for them.  And most people who don't use credit cards use debit cards now.  For many years, checks were my preferred payment method for QVC.  Then a coworker told me about a pre paid debit card that is not connected to my bank accounts.  I started loading my shopping money on it monthly. It was a great way to budget.  I still use it for online shopping and for vacation spending.

@Grnthumb - There is another thread about this, started by @three4me . I posted my thoughts there, and actually sent an email to the Social Team. I just basically gave them my thoughts too. I haven't heard anything back yet, but I don't expect to.

I use it when we're away, so things won't be delivered. Our neighborhood has a lot of families who leave for the whole summer. A while back when I was newer to QVC something was delivered by UPS. Of course when no one was home, after 2 or 3 tries, they sent it back to QVC. It was a comforter, sold out, so I couldn't get it again. The CS rep I talked to recommended paying for the item by check, and changing to a card shortly before leaving, within their time frame of course.

That has worked for me since, but I won't be able to do it any longer.

@chrystaltree - This is a great idea! Can you please tell me where to get a card like this?

It would be convenient if the Q would implement the eCheck system of payment. that's just like writing a paper check only it's done electronically and is much more secure than a paper one.

Once QVC incorporated PayPal as an option, I'm not sure why they continued with checks anyway.  I don't any retailer I use that still accepts checks.

In fact, QVC needs to add Apple Pay to their options, especially on their QVC app.

I can't remember the last time I wrote a check.  Probably not in this millenium--LOL!!  And did you have to wait for the check to clear before QVC sent the item?  Seems like a long time lag between ordering and actually getting the product.

If you Google "pre paid debit cards", you'll get a list.

@Caaareful Shopper I would love if QVC accepted Apple Pay. That is my preferred method of payment above all else. I especially love when I am using it in person because I just tap my Apple watch to pay for my purchases. I no longer have to carry a pocketbook or wallet when I am going out for lunch at work or practically any place. As long as I have my iPhone with me I just tap my watch. It is much more secure.
