I wrote this once but wasn'tg signed in so it didn't go through  I'm venting because I wanted to order two sets of the reading glasses and had trouble ordering them online. so had to go o live chat.  Come to find out New yORK considers them prescription glasses and will not ship to a NY address.  Can't believe it. they are  not prescription so why is NY butting in?  I'm suppose to ship them to someone out of ny and have them ship them to me? no.  I wanted two sets.  Must be that's why once I wanted to order sunglasses of Joan Rivers and they wouldn't ship to NY either. I don't remember if they were reading glasses or not. So unfair.  disappointed.

I live in NY and  have ordered a set of reader sunglasses with no problem.

well wonder what the problem is then? I tried several times and it won't ship to my address.  Live chat told me that they cannot deliver to New York.  weird. wish there was some way I could find out for sure.  They certainly are not prescription. and what if they were? so what? right?

Did you check the NY law yourself?  I have Rivers' readers, but I don't remember whether they were sent to my NY address or elsewhere.  Maybe I ordered them when I was in Florida.

QVC can't change our NY laws, but I would Google and find that law for myself.

I just thought of something else -  all the drugstores sell readers here on Long Island.  What would make these any different.

Now I'm thinking you should try customer service and see what they tell you.--800-367-9444

I tried to order them and went as far as clicking the "sold" button and no issues and I am in Westchester NY, I have also bought my real eyewear on line with no issue...

I checked the description for these readers and it states that for strengths of 2.5 and higher they cannot be shipped to RI & NY .... I find this strange because you can go into any store in NY that sells readers and buy whatever strength you want!!!

I wear 2.0 reading glasses and I've had no problem getting them online. If the strength of the lenses is the issue, that makes no sense because we can buy those above-2.0 strengths over-the-counter anywhere in NY. I wonder whether you can check with your local pharmacy or even a local optometrist to find out whether there's some sort of law regarding online eyeglass purchases. QVC customer service people are likely reading some sort of memo and know nothing about the issue.

The are some wonky things that happen in interstate retailing.  For years I was unable to order a cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory.  There was an old business by the same name in New Mexico which had rights to the name so there was some sort of agreement for

The Cheesecake Factory not to do business here.  They didn't even have NM in the drop-down box on their website.

About 1 1/2 years ago, our local cheesecake people retired and closed the business so the big Cheesecake Factory now has carte blanche to do whatever it wants.  They'll be opening a restaurant in one of our malls in 2016.
