In reading one of the news stories about the Q's layoffs, a supplier wrote in the comments section about what a hassle it was trying to deal with QVC so he finally quit doing business with them.

@Kachina624 Yes, 6 or 7 years ago Zulily was a totally different store. It was unique that it would have items available for only 3 days. Every day there was a big batch of new products. The prices were amazing and it was a fun place to shop with all the new and unique things. Shipping was the issue because Zulily took "orders" basically for items, then those items were shipped to Zulily, then finally shipped to the buyer. It wasn't that bad if you expected slow shipping. Well worth it in the long run.
Now, it's a very lame site. Rarely new items, even when you click "New Today" you get the same items day after day. Qurate pretty much ruined the site as I have found most items are overstock, items that can't sell on QVC, and sizing seems way off.
I still purchase a few items from Zulily but it's rare since I haven't had great luck with the items since QVC took over.

@geezerette I've heard that also.

Maybe that was because people were having to furnish their new homes they purchased when the interest rates were so low there for a few years; sales at the end of this year probably won't be so good.

They are spendy places but the quality is terrific.
I am not sure what is going on, they are saying recession, stock market crashes and all this doom and gloom. I work in the restaurant business and we are seeing record numbers. We can't hire staff fast enough. I live in a building that bills itself as a luxury building and we have 75 people on the waitlist to move in. As I drove around the stores and malls are packed. My esthetician has hired three new people in the last couple of months. She is booked out six weeks ahead for any kind of treatments. That is a lot of Botox, lasers and facials for a poor economy.

But they've been bleeding revenue for years. Sad about the layoffs. Their customer service is stellar; always responsive and very quick to refunds or credits.
I wonder how many total employees Zulily has, since they don't warehouse any items.
Yes, their customer service is so nice. Never had a rude one.

True. The tech industry was hit heavily as well as Wall Street firms.
