You must be a friend of hers to post this!

I watched her one time when she had a guest on and all she did was talk over them.  Sounded like cackling chickens.  One time when she was describing an item she said five times that it is such a good bargain that she almost fainted.  I wish the hosts would just describe the item and move on.

I saw her on a few weeks back with Mary hosting a clothing show and it was just not good.  She was wound up and laughing and carrying on and I had to change the channel.

I've seen Alex 3 or 4 times now, and I have to say she has a very strong personality.  I have no idea what her background is, but she's very self-assured, she is not in the least tentative or reserved, the way most new hosts are in the beginning.

@blueroses47, according to her Meet the Host blog, she was a broadcast news journalist, most recently in Raleigh North Carolina.

My favorite new host is Cathy Pedrayes.  I find her voice very soothing and feel she is very pleasant and competent in her presentations!

I don't care for her - too hyper.

Out of the 5 new hosts, Mary Nelson is the only one that doesn't annoy me.

I'm a millenial. I can appreciate having younger hosts and I wish Alex and the other new hosts the best. I do think that she's a bit loud. Generally, I think that the approach should be to be sophisticated yet down to earth.

What I can't understand is how did they interviewed almost 10,000 people yet they did not hire any new male hosts. I find this kind of unbelievable. We need more hosts like Alberti, male or female.

I just strongly believe that in a cohort of 5 new hosts there should be male hosts as well. Seems very unfair.

Sadly, I am not enjoying any of the new hosts, all for different reasons.  Not saying that they aren't nice people.  But the Q went for a different segment with 4 of them and I think it is a step down.  The 4th, while sweet, has such a shakey voice that I cannot listen to her.  The quality of hosts was one area that separated HSN from Q.  The hosts were just several steps above in appearance and class.  Only the longer tenured Q hosts now show class.  They speak well and measured. Perhaps Q is going after the young demographic. I do not think it will be successful because people both younger and older than my 31 year old daughter do not make time for things like the Q.

I totally agree with your statements.  My 30's-ish daughters do not shop QVC nor do they even watch.  Same with friends/neighbors in my age group--senior citizens.   You comments about the hosts  are right on target.

See, now Cathy and Mary Nelson both have voices that annoy me.  They are 2 that I think need some voice lessons.

Based on her usual lingo and phrases I was just waiting for Alex to call Laura Slatkin "the bomb dot com" during the NEST presentation. Now that would have been priceless...
