I had to change my user name tonight before I could log in. Anyone know why or has anyone else had to change names also?

It's a glitch that comes back every few months for some people. If it happens, try entering your same user name and most of the time it will accept it. It's only happened to me once, but it took my old name and let me in.

You should repost this in the Customer Care section with a more descriptive title like Forum Name Change at Login Screen or something to let the mods so they can pass it along to the form devs.

It happened to me a few months ago.  I couldn't sign on for three days.  Finally, I changed my name to all caps and it let me in.  Now it looks like I am shouting my name.

I did not want to change so I waited until the next day to log back on with my original nic and there was no problem.  Maybe you can change back tomorrow.

        @happygolfcartrider,  @ChynnaBlue explained why it happens.  It's a periodic glitch in the login process and usually if you just enter the nickname you normally use the system will accept it.   Other times, it won't accept the current nickname.  Back in February it happened to a large number of posters, there were lots of threads about it, and even the moderators encountered the problem and temporarily had to change their names.

        If you want to change it back, try these steps.   In most cases, you'll be able to regain the original name, but not always.

1 -- Go into "My Account" (note:  this is in the shopping area of the website, not in the Community forums).

2 -- Choose  "My Nickname" (it's under "Personal Information").

3 -- You'll see your current nickname and a box to enter a new one.

4 -- Try entering the old nickname exactly as it was before (be sure not to change anything about it).  Or, enter another name you'd prefer to have.

5 -- Click "Continue."

6 -- If it accepts the change, then log out.  (You might get a message sayings it's been used before, so in that case you'll have to try a slightly different version of the name.)

7 -- Then log back into the Community and the change should take effect.

(A nickname change won't take effect until you log out and then back in).

This happened to me a couple months ago. That's why I'm now insomniac2.

I lost several thousand posts and my wish list.

I called for help, but didn't receive any.

(However, I am going to follow the advice offered by dooBdoo.)

It makes no sense and I must admit I missed not posting that day and only being able to read the threads.  If I still could not have logged on the next day I would have probably changed too.  I had a new list ready.  Still when you pick a name it is the one you want.  Try to go back to original in a few days and see if it will let you.
