Has anyone ever slapped the return label on the box and dumped it at the Post Office only to get it delivered back to you a few days later - because you put the wrong label - the one addressed to YOU - on the box?

I came - real close -  doing that last week.  I don't return a lot so doubled checked the label before sticking it on the package.  Ooop - I said to myself - that was almost a major goof.  LOL

Nope! Our post office and the UPS people have an "agreement" and unless you are a repeat offender USPS gets it to UPS as a courtesy.  Don't know what the exact arrangement is, but that's the way it works.

@Suzeecat  Oops!  No, I haven't done that one, but I'm sure I could top you in some other area!  BTW, when I need to return something (not very often), my mailbox is right next to my front door, and I can just leave it there and my dear postal carrier picks it up for me.  (Love that!)

  I have returned Netflix to myself- tossed a pyramid diamond ring over .75 carat, 14K in the garbage , never to be seen again.

The best is when I made pasta, had a window over the sink with a ledge, a can of comet spilled into draining pasta. I washed off, my ex husband commented that it was especially good. Then, when he was done eating I

told him.

Now new dh I don’t cook, married  41 years, I don’t use comet either.

This summer,the same day we left for our summer vacation, the cathedral mirrors I'd been thinking about for a few years from Valerie Parr Hill finally came.

I put the box right beside our coat closet. On the other side of the room I had a box ready to return that I hadn't had time to drop off yet.

DD was coming down a few days later, so I asked her if she could drop off the "return" box for me. I told her exactly where it was and what it looked like, label, size, etc.

Well - after reading this you KNOW what happened! She grabbed the Valerie box and dropped it off at the UPS store we always use! After we got back I wondered where the box was, then I saw the other one still sitting there. I also wondered if the returns department would wonder why a box came back unopened! I was pretty sad.

I called CS, but of course the VPH mirrors were gone. I went on waitlist and hoped I would get two eventually. A few months later they showed up - thank goodness!  Smiley Wink

@Suzeecat Yes, I have made that dumb (repeating in the nicest way) mistake once before.

At the risk of sounding even dumber, can someone tell me why that other label addressed to ME is even in there with the return receipt?

@Caaareful Shopper

I believe the label addressed to you is the shipping label the Q uses on the outside of the box of your order when you get it.

@Suzeecat

Not a dumb mistake and you are in good company! I have done the same thing but my Post Office chased me down as I left the building to give it back!!!!
