I was suprised, and dismayed, when I saw the name of this show.

This is just MHO, of course, and I'm not saying we should hide from it, because it's a fact of life for so many people, who take varying approaches to their particular experience.

That said, I feel like this condition is often misunderstood, and people who go through it are sometimes marginalized (primarily by people who've never experienced it, and never will), and calling it out in this way only exascerbates the problem.

The term MENOPAUSE is pretty loaded for some people  While some women equate it with a certain freedom, for others it brings up negative thoughts of aging, being invisible/expendable, not sexy/desirable, etc.

There's got to be a better label for this show.

Thoughts?

I have been through menopause and I guess I was lucky.  I did experience hot flashes, but it seemed like they were gone in a matter of months.  Side note - I used to think they would be like a gentle warm feeling - boy was I wrong about that.  I did have night sweats too.  But I never had the crazy crabby mood swings.  Weight gain, ah yeah!

This whole You are over 50 thing and all that goes with it is totally stupid in my opinion.  I go to QVC to shop.  I don't want medical advice.  I don't need their personal experiences.  I don't need them to boost my moral. And don't get me started on JT and all her needless personal stories, which have been ongoing for eons.

I am surprised that QVC has these shows.  I remember that in the past they were adamant about not making any "medical claims" when selling products.

Doesn't bother me.  It seems to me that nothing is "tabu" now.  I am not offended by it at all and i am pleased we can openly discuss these things. My family didn't talk about "such things" and it would have been better for me if things were open.

@Jk9 Sure it can be in the "open."  I don't think anyone is saying that menopause should not be discussed.  Many just feel that a shopping channel is not the place.  I don't watch those shows, so I don't really know how much they talk about it.  But since the title is "Menopause Monday" they must talk about it some.  Are we all supposed to bond through this shared experience?  Ridiculous.

Doesn't seem to be a regular "series" going forward.

It's not on the calendar, at least through Monday, August 19th.

Of course,  they could rename it and place it elsewhere.

This morning when the Menopause Monday came on screen, poor Sandra Bennett looked uncomfortable opening and explaining why they call it that.  Seems she is stuck in this slot which I am sure doesn't make her happy.

@Rockycoast   I totally agree in everything you said - and now they think it's cute or funny ...Menopause Monday??!!

I don't think this is cute or funny, not humorous in any way.

I find this quite disgusting on a shopping channel.

The Fab 50s is bad enough but now this.

PS - no one needs to ridicule me for my thoughts here ether.

What @Puppy Lips @said! Totally out of place on a shopping channel. They must be desperate.

Another life experience. MENOPAUSE. Now I refer to it as MEN ON PAUSE - I COMPLETED MY TEN YEARS - from peri menopause to post menopause - It was a hard ten years. Hot flashes, weight gain, hormone changes and a failed marriage...

Ohhhh, "Men On Pause" is funny - I've always referred to it as "Mean-O-PAUSE," because my mood swings were off-the-charts! Smiley Very Happy
