A house burning down is tragic, whole neighborhoods gone is something else. Celebrities are STILL people. Their whole lives ripped from them also. (Famous or not, rich or not). Pictures, memories, every single thing you own, gone. Any posts I've seen from some celebrities are praising fire companies and first responders even with everything they owned is totally gone.
What if it was YOUR entire neighborhood - blocks and blocks? Your memories, your treasures? Your safe haven? I feel awful for EVERYONE. It's heartbreaking.

I am shocked by the insensitivity of some posters. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Let the woman grieve her loss. If you lost everything in a flash, would you want to be on display as people take an inventory of what charities you donate to? Get off your high horse and show a little compassion. We have no idea who these people have helped and will help. Some of you seem awfully bitter and happy that they're suffering. And we wonder what's wrong with the world.

I don't take an interest in celebrities but I do feel badly for anyone who has lost their home, regardless of their financial status or lack thereof.
I remember the terrible fire in Hawai'i when a whole town was wiped out.
I think it's easy to scoff at famous people losing their homes and I think that's a shame. I doubt all of them have as much money as some think they do.
I especially think of the men and women bravely fighting these fires and feel sick about all the animals who have been killed.

"Melissa Rivers called into CNN to confirm that she had lost her home. "
Why?
Me personally, calling a news station to let them know my house burned down would never cross my mind.
"Never argue with a fool. Onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."

It's heartbreaking to watch this entire situation! I feel terrible for ALL who have lost their loved ones, lost their homes, etc. Melissa has lost both her parents, tragically and she is human. Praying for all of California! 💔🙏🏻

My best guess is that CNN (and all other news outlets) have contact numbers for just about everybody.
If they texted Melissa, her response could have been a knee-jerk reaction to her stress and devastation.
Not everyone dealing with a personal tragedy is rational all the time.
JMO, of course.

How cruel. No matter who you are, what your net worth might be, it's devastating to go through something like this
