The mattress industry is undergoing big changes; new materials, new ways of packing and delivery, new designs.  Some people are flexible and will adapt.  Others, stubborn and set in their ways, will insist on sticking with conventional interspring mattress where they've fleeced us for years, making it impossible to compare the various models between stores, until they're finally phased out.  Anyone with arthritic aches and pains is going to love the memory foam.

I wish I had bought a foam mattress or bed in a box.  I would never buy a Northern Nights or Scott Brothers mattress though.  I would buy from one of the main bed in a box sources.  When I was looking for a mattress several years ago I went to a mattress store and bought a Serta Hybrid.  It's foam on top and box springs on the bottom.  I don't love it.

My niece just bought a foam bed in a box (don't remember which one) for her guest room and loves it.  She has slept on it, and my sister and her husband have slept on it among others.  They all say it's extremely comfortable.  It was obviously much less expensive than mine, too, although I would have to buy a platform frame for my bed to use one.
