I went to two different Macy's stores in Colorado last week and neither had a petite department any longer.  I looked online and they still offer them there.  Does anyone know if Macy's is no longer selling petite clothing in their stores?  If so, they have lost a long time customer.  I will not order online only to have to send the items back.  I told the sales person that I guess I would have to take my business elsewhere and all she did was shrug!!

I'm not even surprised.  That same thing has happened elsewhere although for the life of me, I don't understand why.  Seems to me I see lots of petite women.

As for the sales clerk's shrug -  they don't make policy and for the most part never even get to speak to those who do.  Employers would do well to give their employees a few hints on what to say when  customer reacts. At least some attempt to mollify customers would be appropriate

Macy's near me still has petites but not a huge selection.  I order online and use their sales and coupon discounts.  I can easily return to the store near me if I have to do a return.  I don't think their profits are good now; hope they don't close more stores.

Chains tend to drop departments that are not selling in individual stores.

This happened to me years ago (about 15) at Sears, at the opposite end of the size range - my two closest stores eliminated their Plus Size departments entirely. I had to drive 40 min. to a Sears that still had the dept. I stopped shopping there when the quality tanked. I know that the last time I went to "a" Sears they did have a Plus dept, but not all of them will, depending on what sells in the area.

I'm 5 feet tall and grateful I can sew, also have access to a great tailor if I just don't feel llike tackling something.  I'm a size 6, and okay with tops in a regular. 3/4 length sleeves are a dream come true for me.  I stick to straight leg pants, because if I have to shorten them even by an inch, you lose the concept of the flair, and I don't like them anyway. I think they tend to make a petite person look dumpy.  Be careful of GILI blouses, I had to go up to an 8. The bust bbutton pulled on the 6, not a good look, and her stuff is overpriced anyway. Check Old Pueblo Traders for their Levi's Bend Over pants, they have them in every color, and their petite is a "short" 27" inseam!! A dream come true for me!! They are online or you can request a catalog, pricing is fair too. Happy shopping!!!Woman Very Happy

I am  upset at Macy's also. Petite women are being discriminated against. Everyone is getting bigger but us. I now look into the Misses Dept. to see if I can something that fits. Disgraceful!

Funny how stores work. I was recently in the local Boscov's. They bought the space of at least 3 stores and made the entire area a petite department. I have never seen such a big selection of petite clothing.

LOL!  Try being tall if you think you are being discriminated against.  I've been in Macy's stores in many parts of the country and they have petite departments, but no talls.  At least petites often have the option of hemming pants, etc, but those of us that are vertically gifted can't just add fabric to items.

@Nannerbelles

I went to Macys in Boulder about 3-4 years ago and they had 0 petite items as well.  In fact, the store had very few clothing racks in the entire women's section.

Went to another Macys in Loveland about 2 years ago and same thing.  In fact, all I remember seeing for women were party-type, special occasion dressing.

I ended up getting a pair of shoes, that's it.

I don't know what's going on.  Today, went through the petite section in Kohl's, always has been VERY small section.  The handbag section was a hot mess.  Not a thing I would take home.  Bought a couple of items for my DH and left.

I have been very underimpressed with the clothing out there these days.Woman Frustrated
