I haven't been to Macy's in years.  The last time I was there was eight years ago looking for a pair of shoes for my wedding day.  I remember the entire store looking like one giant bargain basement.  Nothing was neatly arranged and there were lots of bins set out in the middle of the aisles with big tacky signs stating how big a discount that bin was.  I miss Marshall Field's.  As a matter of fact, I just called and closed my Macy's American Express account.  The third time they declined a charge of mine was the clincher for me, especially since my card had a zero balance.  I always pay my credit cards in full every month and they couldn't tell me why the charges were being declined so I decided I didn't need the card.   Sorry for this being a bit off-topic but the moral of my story is I'm not too impressed with Macy's either.  Poor customer service & poor shopping choices does not a good retailer make.....

MAcy's stores near me are just a hot mess.  Clothes all jumbled together so tightly on racks you can't even move them around to see if they have your size.  CLothing falling off hangers and lying on the floor.  Dirty dressing rooms with hooks falling out of walls.  left over clothing in the dressing rooms with not enough help available to remove the clothing left behind and let's not even talk about the quality of the "sales associates" who are not trained to do anything more than stand at the cash registers.  THat is if you can even find a sales associate to start with.  No training in the merchandise they carry.  THey don't even know if they carry a particular brand in the department they are working in and they don't care either.  WHatever happens to Macy's they brought it on themselves.

Macys department store seems to be a thing of the past or something. I have been into mine a few (very few) times the past couple of years and they seem to be full of absolutely nothing. Strange really. Clerks no where to be found. Rude clerks found. Out of stock this. Out of stock that. "Find it online" is all their rude clerks are taught these days!!! A shame really - I have spent a pretty penny at Macy's over the years. Not anymore. I do believe I am done with that store. Actually, I know I am!

I was just at my Macy's yesterday to return one of the items I bought online. It was hard to find a register with someone at it. The store was neat and clean, but they had one girl working the whole cosmetics Dept....

The sales clerk who rang me up was very nice though.

Online shopping has replaced much of the store traffic at Macy's and many other B&M stores. This creates a lesser need for sales associates and other store employees, so people are laid off. Customer service suffers. As a result, they lose more shoppers in their stores. (I imagine some stores are used as much for returns as they are for purchases). It becomes a vicious cycle.

It's sad to see this happening to Macy's and other retail giants. Unfortunately, it's a sign of the times, as they say...

We have a large Nordstrom in a newly renovated upscale mall nearby. The petite section is extremely petite, as in being almost nonexistent.

I order online.

I'm another one that goes to the Misses or Juniors department.  I have actually had to go to the children's department ( I kid you not) for sweatpants a few years ago.

I haven't been to Macy's in ages but Kohls near me does do a petite section that I found some nice dresses in for work.  I don't wear pants or jeans because of the hassle with length so I keep it swinging and I can usually make a Junior dress or skirt work.

The Macy's nearest to me is about 35 miles away, but they have a nice large cosmetic department and the people working there are very nice and generous with samples......I also love their coat and purse departments, not the clothes department however-very unorganized......I do shop a lot online and they have super fast shipping........

Thanks for all the responses ladies!  I live in Wisconsin and was visiting Colorado and just thought it was odd.  I will have to check the Macy's in Milwaukee.

It is what it is!!!
