MY TRIP TO THE UK AND QVC UK

I recently returned from my trip back to the UK and while there I shop @ QVC UK.  Not one of their hosts, or even the models wear XXS or masses of makeup!  Their shipping arrives within 2-3 days, although the UK is very small in comparison to the US.  They have hosts of every age group, color & size & their models are the same.  It seems to be a much less stressful job to have, with less hard sell.  Dennis Basso appears on QVC UK,  but most other brands are European.  Denim & co didn't seem to be as popular, but they have similar brands.

i also shopped at TKMaxx, not TJMaxx there which was a pleasant surprise.  The weather was very similar to where I live in CA, and there was a very hot spell in July.  The UK weather is quite unpredictable & always has been.

This 4-5 month trip is an annual event since we purchased a small apartment in the south-west of the country, a seaside town, Torquay.  We were both born in the UK & came to CA in 1981 for my husbands work, and because of our sons education, then my new career in real estate, we never went back!  Eventually, after retirement, we were able to do so.

Re: MY TRIP TO THE UK AND QVC UK

Hi, I was born in the U.K. and am still a Britsh Citizen. I am married to an American and have lived here for nearly 40 years in SoCal. I know what you are talking about. I have seen QVC U.K. - it is very different and very low key.

Good to meet you Cabrit - Happy Christmas to you and your family.

@CABRIT   Thanks for sharing!  Sounds wonderful to spend a good part of the year there and the other in CA!  I love hearing about the UK version of the Q...I may look it up on youtube just to see...never thought of it before.

Wow, Dennis Basso UK!!! That's pretty cool. I guess I never thought about the different lines of clothing. Are the cosmetics much different?

Thank you for sharing your trip.  How nice to be able to go back every year and what a treat to have your own place.  I wonder what Q in UK think about the Q here.  Smiley Happy

Re: MY TRIP TO THE UK AND QVC UK

I love the UK, we have friends who love just outside London and my younger daughter lived there for 3 years.  We have visited often.  Hubby and I once daydreamed about spending part of the year there after retirement.  Yes, I have shopped QVC UK when I am there and you are right, their hosts are not all glamor girls.  They aren't XXS either but that is true of the women you see in the UK and Europe.  There is a realism in the way that on air people look.  I buy shoes and clothing from a couple of UK online retailers and I get my things in about 8 days.  Granted, I'm in Boston not the Mid West or the West Coast.

Re: MY TRIP TO THE UK AND QVC UK

Since you specifically bring up Dennis Basso and also refer to the different style of selling, does he act more low key there too? I think Susan Graver and the woman from Woman In Control; are they a little less animated? Please don’t think I’m putting any of the vendors down; I’m just wondering if it’s the “powers that be” that push a certain personality. (I think Diane Gilman is on Q UK too.).

Thanks!
