@Mikel

Not familiar with this bird seed yet.

I recently had to stop feeding the birds. I really miss them too. Loved seeing the

cardinal every morning and the blue birds. The reason is because we have a

bear roaming in our area. Live near the woods. Maybe I can go back to feeding them

in the winter. Hope so.

Only people who obviously don't feed birds would question whether there was such thing as No Mess mix.  While it may cost a little more, your yard won't be full of the seed shells.

We have always had bears and I simply take the feeder in at night except in the Winter months when they are hibernating.  I love my birds and many now in the yard on their way South for the  Winter.

I thought I heard Martha Stewart say that her birdseed is hulless and mess free. I wondered if anyone tried it? I use only suet cakes now because the mess from the birdseed was attracting "unwanted" animals. We have woods around our property so it's always a challenge to keep them there and not on our patio and porch. I like feeding the birds (especially the little ones) so this was the compromise I use. I will have to check out the tractor feed store and see what they have available.

Re: Lock n Lock (NO MESS BIRD FOOD!)

Just this morning I realized that this awful squirrel had bitten enough into a thick plastic bin that is supposed to be weather and animal proof to have caused a fortune worth of birdseed to spout and mold during a rainy stretch.  I am not fond of squirrels and we have traps in our neighborhood as they have gotten into and damaged several homes.  So we purchased these bins and tons of "squirrel away" and "rat magic", but now the birds will have to starve because I won't feed the rotten or rotting food and will not buy more.  I will be angrily returning this bin to The Container Store and demanding a refund!

I have purchased No Mess mix from our local Farm elevator, Family Farm and Fleet as well as a local Bird store in my home town.  We stopped using it though and went back to Premium mixes which also don't  have the mix.  As with anything you pay for quality and the more you pay the less of the seed mess you get.
