LIBERTY is the parent company of QVC.

LIBERTY bought HSN, NOT QVC!

QVC DID NOT BUY HSN!

LIBERTY OWNS QVC, and now LIBERTY  owns HSN.

It is NOT a merger.

Re: LIBERTY BUYS HSN!!!!!!

[ Edited ]

Read the truth for yourself:    And HSN was celebrating their 40th birthday! Hate to see QVC do a hostile takeover again like they did to CVN in the 80's.

QVC is technically buying the 62 percent of HSN that it didn't already own and merging it with the QVC Group, which includes QVC, Zulily, and now HSN. The group will split off and become an asset-backed stock later this year, with QVC and HSN continuing to operate as individual brands.

This may seem different because these are TV network retailers, but many large national retail stores are owned by the same corporation.  The stores operate as individual entities, but a huge share of the profits for all ultimately end up in the pockets of shareholders of stock in the parent corporation.

The official word from HSN:

Today we announced that HSNi has entered into an agreement to become a full part of the QVC Group. This is an exciting opportunity in which we will be keeping our HSN brand, individual positioning and shopping experience. It also gives us the opportunity to invest in our customer experience so that we continue to bring you the products and content you love, and more, wherever and whenever you want to shop.

As the first home shopping network - together with you - we have redefined retail. Thanks to your loyalty and enthusiasm, we've challenged ourselves to deliver our best each and every day. And it's been fun - whether it's incredible live concerts in studio, unbelievable Hollywood tie-ins for some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters, or great culinary demonstrations from our celebrity chefs.

None of that is changing, in fact, we think it's only going to get better!

When the transaction is complete, the QVC Group will offer customers - and we know you are the most loyal in all of retail - an expanding array of content-rich experiences that feature world-class brands and products in more engaging ways across more platforms.

We see this as an opportunity to provide even greater diversity in content and experience, product and customer service. It's an opportunity to enhance our digital platforms, create complementary programming and provide you more value as you continue to shop with us.

Just think about it - together with QVC, we will be one of the largest digital retailers in the world with the opportunity to continue to innovate in this rapidly changing retail space, with annual revenue of $14 billion. This scale brings significant advantages and allows us to be stronger and more effective in the rapidly evolving retail industry.

@Plaid Pants2  That's an easy one; now try to convince the masses that Liberty bought Zulily.  QVC did not buy Zulily

You are right......QVC and HSN were both run by the same pareny Company Liberty Media. As a former employee of QVC i do remember when they took over QVC things changed drastically. It was so different once they came in.  Right now HSN computer systems are so much more advanced than QVC and HSN actually ahead off the game there. HSN prices are better too. Sales are better when they have sales and deals than QVC. If something goes on sale they actually notify you so you contact them and they refund you the difference. I bet that will change. They also give a shipping discount on clothing items bought onthe same day and they don't have to even be on the same order!. This should be a new experience for all!
