Kirsten, " I am an aaahh addict"

Thats right QVC's host Kirsten is an aahh addict, she can't say more than 2 sentences without a big aahhhh. It's aaaahhhh hugely annoying and sounds very unprofessional and aaahhhh, I just think it sounds wrong. AAhhhh, call me old fashioned here, but aaahhh, I can remember even in aaaahhh grade school, my speech class teacher told us to never aaaahhh EVER aaahhhh say ahhhh when speaking. I aaahhhh have brought this up before and I hope it gets to aaahhh the person I aaahhhh want to hear it and that is aaahhhh Kirsten. AAAAhhhh thank you, and aaahhhh have a nice night all. aaaaahhhhright?

Re: Kirsten, " I am an aaahh addict"

It seems to me quite a few of the hosts punctuate their presentations with ums or ahs or something else that annoys a certain contingent of viewers. Certainly, I can agree that hosts, at times, can be annoying. Heck, some are annoying from the get-go. I also find that when I begin to find them annoying it's probably time for me to move on to something else. Never hurts to offer feedback so long as we keep in mind they probably aren't going to change all that much.

Re: Kirsten, " I am an aaahh addict"

I believe the actual job alters their personalities. Staring into oblivion and speaking endlessly about nothing of real importance. The constant shift changing alone is enough to mess up the immune system and biological clock. And if QVC is like everywhere else, sales people are treated like royalty by management because you have to keep your sales staff pumped so they bring money into the organization. Sales will always be held on a higher tier then a supporting job; which is a false, inflated sense of "self" constantly reinforced over time. Arguably, it is their job and they are compensated for that job, but I still contend that the job itself alters their "affects". Within my own organization I've watched a lot of sales people become almost unrecognizable over time; developing the strangest of personality traits or “quarks” some of them ridicules in nature. Lastly, there are the ever looming numbers; you either make them or you don't. If you don't all of those cozy, elevated feeling you've come to enjoy from management suddenly go away. Look at videos QVC will show from the archives and you’ll see how differently those same people behave on camera today. I think there’s a thesis here for some grad student.

UGH, PLEASE, NO!!!!!!!

Why not? She's earned it and ever since she started appearing on Saturday Morning Q I knew it wouldn't be long until she started hosting during the daytime hours. Let's not forget there's a new host soon to be on air, and Amy & Gabrielle are gonna be out for the summer on maternity leave. So gotta rotate the hosts around etc.

Re: Kirsten, " I am an aaahh addict"

True I honestly don't see why so many ppl have a problem with her. Sure she maybe a little loud etc but I really don't see anything the matter with her. Some people like some people don't. Me personally I don't put on QVC just to watch the host, I put it on to see if they have something i'm interested in buying not who's hosting or whatnot. Example Carolyn isn't exactly one of my favs but if she's on and I see something I like and she's selling it, I'll go ahead and buy it who the host is makes no influence on if I buy something or not. But judging by alot of posts on here it seems like people are watching to critique the hosts and their hosting skills, rather then watching to see the actual product.

Good - I don't watch during the day, only evening hours and I can't watch her or Jennifer. They both can go to days!

Re: Kirsten, " I am an aaahh addict"

With some insomnia, I see Kirsten more than some. I call her "mumbles." She talks very very fast, getting lower and lower. If you listen carefully, you've missed nothing. She could use a speech course where they would eradicate that ahhh and ummmm immed. Some new hosts show improvement quickly while others just stay the same. Well spoken, easily conversational, good tonal quality, knowledge about the product doesn't seem to be what the Q is looking for in new employees. The ability to sell can be learned, but some come with a natural talent for it.

Just another reason not to watch.
