Re: Kathy and Sunday evenings

@Witchy Woman wrote:

She was always prepared, and her presentations were clear and calm.  Not that she didn't laugh and have a good time, but she never strayed far from the business at hand.

Her clothing and appearance never distracted from the product or her presentations.  Her hair didn't fall into her eyes.  Her makeup didn't leave you wondering what the heck she had done to herself.

It wasn't about HER, but about the product.  She made relevant, intelligent comments.  She was perfectly groomed and seemed happy to be there.

Whatever it was she was selling or talking about, you wanted to stop and listen.

Wanted to add that she did not talk so fast to the point of being breathless.  No screeching or screaming during her presentations.  She was well spoken and knew the English language.

I know there are those who didn't care for her, but I thought she was one of the best, if not the best.

The only host that comes close to her now (in my opinion), is Collen Lopez on HSN.

Well said!  All the qualities you pointed out are sadly lacking at QVC now.

Re: Kathy and Sunday evenings

I am still hopeful Kathy will return to QVC. I have also been an advocate of having a yearly "Hall of Fame Day" when the old hosts would come back, Kathy... as well as Patty Reilly, Steve Bryant, Lisa Mason, Lynn Tucker, Jacque Gonzales, Lisa Robertson and Dave King should all be invited back.

I enjoyed those shows!!!!  Kathy was a hoot.

Even better were the shows with Kathy and Joan;  and, the dogs!!!!  Those two were a comedy act.

@Witchy Woman I always felt this way about Lisa Mason. She was my ALL time favorite. Always classy, she could have fun also, but kept it classy.

@TX-starlight

Yes, Lisa Mason was top notch too.  I also enjoyed Judy Crowell.  Mary Beth is from that "old school" class of hosts.  Calm, classy, knowledgeable.

There were other hosts from the past that had great qualities, too.

It sounds silly to say that I miss those hosts or miss those early days of shopping, but, occasionally, I do.

Everything was new then.  Shopping from TV was fun and exciting.  There weren't as many choices.  You could find unique items.

Yea, I know, things change.

As years passed, I couldn't tolerate the fast-talking selling approach, decline in quality and repetitive choices so, I "changed the channel" to the extent I no longer watch.

Kathy was also very honest about the products.  Something that is sadly lacking these days.

Re: Kathy and Sunday evenings

I hardly ever missed one of Kathy's diamonique shows.  She was so genuine.

I don't watch QVC near as much as I used to, in fact, I hardly watch at all.  However, I loved it when Kathy would give sneak peaks of what was coming up.  She would say "wait until you see the big honker coming up in about 20 minutes" and I couldn't wait!  I purchased a lot of diamonique and loved every piece.

Hedge -- I'm sorry you didn't have the chance to watch Kathy.  She was and is a special person.
