I just NOW found out from the internet that Kathleen Kirkwood passed away Nov. 5 at age 62 at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Did QVC announce this?

@LilMadi No, there was no formal announcement that I remember.  I think there was some chatter on the FB page from posters and it was discussed here on a thread last November:

Mezzie Starr-Thank you!

You know, to this day they still talk about Joan Rivers's passing. And I believe a vendor passed a little while back and they mentioned it all day long. It's curious why QVC mentions the passing of some vendors and not others.

Kathleen Kirkwood, a fashion entrepreneur known as “the diva of shoulder pads,” a past chairwoman of East Hampton Town’s litter and recycling advisory committee, and a member of the Montauk Historical Society, died on Nov. 5 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, The Star has learned. The cause of death remains unknown. Ms. Kirkwood, who lived in Montauk and Manhattan, had fallen ill and been hospitalized two months earlier. She was 62.

In 1982 — the era of the padded shoulder — Ms. Kirkwood invented the clip-on shoulder pad by removing them from clothing and affixing them to bra straps with Velcro. Quickly, friends asked for them, and the following year, Bloomingdale’s ordered the first of her Pints of Pads, which came in a container that resembled a pint of ice cream. Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom followed, and the invention soon went international.

I just found out too @LilMadi so l googled it and yes, she unfortunately passed on November 5th! I'm in shock because there was a rumor she passed but then it said she didn't. I read an article her sister wrote about her and they were very close. She told how Kathleen got started...her whole story. She went into the hospital with the flu and something else but never came home! I always enjoyed watching her when she was on QVC and bought a few sets of her shoulder pads and loved them! She was always excited talking about her products! I found the article her sister wrote just by googling Kathleen Kirkwood then I saw her sister mentioned and clicked on it. I never saw that QVC mentioned it...maybe because it was several years since she was on. A beautiful and talented young lady gone too soon. Rest in peace Kathleen. 🙏🏻 💗

I also read that Kathleen Kirkwood and her sister Joann lost their Dad on 9/11. 😥 He worked across the Twin Towers in trading. There was a tape that was found in a computer a guy bought. He turns the computer on and these calls start playing, over 100 of them, of traders who worked in this building! One of the calls was Mr. Kirkwood calling his daughters to tell them about the planes hitting the towers and he was okay...but he never made it home. I believe a poster here wrote something about it. It was suppose to be shown on TV on 9/11 but it wasn't. I wouldn't have watched it thinking you were okay but didn't make it home. Very sad.

I have a couple of her tops. One I wear a lot under jackets is silky with lace - so pretty.  This is sad. Thank you for letting us know @LilMadi

I had previously heard of her passing, I bought so many of her removable shoulder pads. May she rest in peace.
