I think everyone has show hosts they like and those that they find irritating.  Can you imagine if QVC went by all our complaints and personal preferences, would even one host remain???  From what I read about almost every host here.....I think not!

I don't think the hosts are on commission.  They may be upgraded in salary when their contracts come up if the top brass feel they are extra popular and feel they make a lot of sales.  How can they track the sales now when (for example)  I may see X host present an item at 8 p.m. in the evening.  I may go online a day or two later and order that item and it may have been presented by two or three other hosts by then.  QVC doesn't know which host convinced me I had to have that item.  Or maybe I just saw an item online without seeing any host present it.

Isn’t it possible the hosts work on salary + commission + bonuses? They’re all trying to talk & sell as much as they can during their shift on air. It’s always been difficult to watch Q because of this hard sell and “over talking”. It just seems now it’s more obvious.

Hosts don’t work for commission, Just salary per contract.

@Mlsg

there are some bonuses based on sales....there was an article written---A Day In The Life Of A QVC Host.......

@Spurt Thank you! I was talking about commission not bonuses.

I am  only referring to Jill's TV persona as I do not know her personally.

I feel she monopolizes the shows she hosts and does come across as a know it all.  She has been a host for a long time so I am sure she does know a lot about selling items.  Perhaps the Q should give her three hours of selling on her own without any vendor present.  It would be interesting to see the results.

  Vendors are on for a reason, to tell everything about their product, there are hosts who allow this and those hosts who interrupt, talk over, monopolize the conversation.  There will always be hosts who are liked and disliked by viewers.

I don't know about how bossy she is on her shows or rearranging the set. I watch her for a while only any show except David's show she is fine on that show,but I do not know about anyone else on here, I think her Voice is too monotone & dull.describing any products ,sorry imo.

The hosts are not on commission, there have been articles about it.  However, apparently they do look at number of sales made during each show.  Awhile back there was a case where a host was fired due to low sales,  she took QVC to court because her shows were always in early early AM, and the judge ruled that male hosts got better time slots, there were more male hosts back then (David V, Dan Hughes, Dan Wheeler, Dave King, Dave James, Bob Bowersox etc)

Not sure how they track sales on website and apps after the presentations, maybe they dont count those made after the fact for the host and only count for sales for that product and category (home, apparel, electronics, jewelry---they do break it down by category in their financial reports)......

And your right, because I did read there are bonuses for hosts who are top sellers......

And I find it interesting that now the Program Guide lists who the hosts is now, perhaps to check sales/viewership of hosts......

@jubilant

But in a way our preferences are noticed, because if customers dont like a host they probably wont watch nor buy during their shows, and hosts contracts are not renewed because of low sales. And a host was fired because of low sales it got a lot of publicity because she took QVC to court ..........

But if customers like the product or vendor line even if they dont like the host and still watch and buy and sales are good, QVC will retain that host......One host even said on air....WHEW my contract was just renewed....(a bit TMI to announce on air)...

And if they get complaints they must be talked to...because one host a few days ago mentioned she got in trouble for a remark she made...and interesting because that feedback was on this very Forum....And some hosts even remark after being a bit out of control in a show---Im going to get in trouble for sure for this show.....

BTW I dont watch 24/7 but I do work from home a lot and I might keep QVC on in the background now and then because daytime TV can be a bit pitiful......And I do admit I find QVCs financial reports published on a Blog and on their parent company's website and Nasdq interesting

I don't mind some comments about personal private lives but not all the time and bragging. Some years ago, Jill shared a pregnancy  fairly early , then had to deal with the viewers and explain she was no longer pregnant . I felt  so sorry for her. I thought way to early to announce. It was a very tough time,  I am sure to deal with.

I agree I dont want the hosts to be robots with "just the facts" and no personality.....its okay to share a bit of their personal life....but there's a fine line, and unfortunately some make the shows ALL about them and their "fabulous life"....its like a mini reality show and oh and BTW buy this!!! (hardly any product info except colors) animated-smileys-rolleyes-10.gif

It was so sad about Jill's miscarriage and surely a difficult time for her.....
