It's the idea of using their words or comments against them; insinuating all sorts of possibilities, some of which are just unkind; and just generally taking it as carte blanche to blast away.
To what end? To just increase the noise and lower the level of discourse? Yeah, like that's what we need more of these days.
I agree with you, @suzyQ3. I would add that some of the problem is the frequency and repetitiveness of the really insensitive (sometimes downright hate-filled) posts, or the rumors, by the same posters. It's one thing to occasionally post opinions or feedback about hosts... totally different to show up on just about any thread about certain people and hack away at them. Nevertheless, those who get their adrenalin rush from it (or whatever it is that fuels their fire) will glom onto any excuse to continue the practice. Boggles the mind.

Hack away at, adrenaliune rush, fuel their fire, glom onto any excuse. Oh my! Is this anyway to descibe posters? If you look hard enough you will find the bad in everyone.
I would prefer to say that there are some that do follow the host's they do not like and yes they make comments based on their facebook musings or other criteria but is this any reason to call the posters names?
I don't like a certain host and I make no bones about it just as others do, does this mean that we should be followed around, waiting to pounce on us?

Nobody called anyone names. No one is following anyone or anything, other than responding in a thread or threads to something that may be objectionable to others.
And if you find that it is unpleasant to read such posts of disagreement, just imagine how it feels to be a total stranger (host or hosts) possibly reading a constant barrage of nasty, rude remarks, here and elsewhere, that go beyond anything remotely constructive:

None of that is name-calling, it's simply descriptions of activities and practices. For me, it's not useful... certainly not "fun..." to find the bad in people but if we read a few of the threads about hosts we certainly see plenty of posters doing that to the hosts.
I don't enjoy all the hosts' styles of presentation, either. I doubt anyone does.
However, we've seen it said before so many times, actual constructive criticism comes with good intent and doesn't involve personal attacks, but sometimes the nuances are complicated. I honestly think some of us don't realize we've come across as sounding mean, and the fact is that self-awareness can be difficult. Often, people will bring up "brutal honesty," and I think that's something to be cautious about... in my experience those who pride themselves in "brutal honesty" find more joy in the butality than in any honesty that might be involved.
Does the target of the critique come away edified, educated, and encouraged, or does the person feel hurt and attacked? I would think that might be a good question to ask before I post my thoughts about a host or anyone else.
There is such a thing as the art of constructive criticism offered with good intentions and a kind heart.
"Few things reveal your intellect and your generosity of spirit — the parallel powers of your heart and mind — better than how you give feedback." (Maria Popova, writer and critic)

Well said, @suzyQ3. And imagine how the family and friends of the targets of all the snark feel if they read the comments?

I am so surprised the Lisa Renna thread has not been found yet..Lots of ugly comments about her...Oh yeah, mine are all good comments so no need to jump in.

I appreciate that, @dooBdoo. And I think you've been very articulate in explaining your point of view, which is all you cabreally do -- I need another rhyme here. :-)
ETA: "cabreally" is a neat mix of letters, but I did mean "can really."

Lisa Renna bashing going on, does anyone care?

Thanks, @suzyQ3! I appreciate that!
