No one is irreplaceable. Comparing hosts and saying one is less or more than another is not the best method. Each person has their own preferences. Jill is leaving of her own choice. She's not being "let go." People should not get so involved with these hosts that they take it personally.

Things change. And people do too. Being a QVC host is a lot different when you’re in your twenties as compared to in your fifties. Jill started out young and single. Now she’s older and married with kids. Her father is gone and her mother is getting older. Different life with different responsibilities. Those long and crazy hours are a lot harder to cope with when you’re her age now, as opposed to when she started. Lots of people retire after a long career. I take her at her word as to her reasons for leaving now. I’m sure there are many more she hasn’t shared, which are personal.

That being said, I do believe that one (and only one) of her reasons is probably the change in direction that QVC seems to be taking. I do not believe she was let go or fired. For one thing, QVC wouldn’t be making such a big deal about her retiring if they were the only ones that wanted her gone. I think she probably came to a period in her life when she realized her priorities have changed and it was time for her to change with them.

Jill was a great host. She was sometimes a little over-bearing and self-congratulatory for my taste. But she was always a pro and great at her job. No one showed up more prepared that Jill! She's a class act and I bet she will be very happy in whatever she chooses to do next.

@Caaareful Shopper, I was watching Jill's last YHWJ on Q2 on the app and viewer comments were scrolling so I was seeing some of them. There were 2 guys who seemed very upset about Jill leaving and were actually asking Katie where they could send Jill flowers on her last day. It was very creepy.

Jill has always been my favorite host and I do have to honestly say I will miss her because I think she was one of the most informative, well-spoken hosts on Q.

@Lipstickdiva Oh my! Unfortunately, every host has their share of creepy male followers on social media. Some just seem infatuated. Some seem sadly socially inept. But there are others that should be completely banned from posting.

I agree with your statements. I am surprised QVC is allowing her to promote her new facebook page while on the air for QVC. She has mentioned it so many times it is obvious she really wants followers. There has to be a reason someone wants to be followed; she definately has something up her sleeve or she would just leave and get on with her personal life. I guess she wants a "tribe" like Lisa R. I wish her luck but her plugging her new Just Jill Bauer facebook page is getting a little much!

I agree with you! It was definately her choice to leave. A lot has changed recently with the new QVC2,3,etc. and maybe it was not to her liking. I am sure she has a nice retirement account after 25 years so why not? I did the same thing after 27 years when my job duties changed dramatically. As long as she is happy, and she sure seems so, then good for her. I wish her the best!

Yes, it was during her anniversary show 4 months before she announced she was leaving when she said, "I will be around for a long time, if you'll have me."
